My parents told me of one of their uncles who died in the 1960's. They told me before he died, he had a love affair with his car. That it was his pride and joy and couldnt bare to sell it. I've photos some where of the car, cant remember what make it was.
Anyway, he buried the car in country side before he died. Was he self fish or crazy for doing this.
Would you consider doing this?

A very good friend of our's had his custom van buried alongside him when he died. I dont think it is selfish at all as it was his property to do what he wished with!

The next door neighbor at our old house wanted to put a pond at the bottom of his garden where a rockery was so started digging it out. He got about 2foot down and found a car roof
He just chucked the dirt back in and didn't bother. I would have been so curious to find out what it was, I would have carried on digging!

i know where theres a quarry where me and a pal had a hand in dumping in the flooded pit around 9 cars, there were 3 others that we didnt put in.thats all filled in now.theres another ex flooded quarry close to me with rs turbo and cossie shells in it.i had been told for years about this pond and how dodgy twocers would dump shells there and once dumped a complete saph in as they heard over the scanner the police had all the roads closed.
1 year they pumped the water out for irrigation for potato fields down to the point where there was a spah shell sitting on top of an rs turbo and a complete clio shell was high and dry.my pal went in with diving gear and visibility was really bad,but he found a transit sitting upright,a bike frame and an old mazda turbo.
we grappled the pond and pulled out bags with seatbelts, pics of a mk2 escort and other bits and bobs,we pulled the grapple across the pond with a guide line then let it sink then slowly puled it across the pond till it snagged something big,so we hitched it to my hilux and gave it a good rug,i didnt see it but my pals who did reckoned it was the roof of a mk2 in that blue the rs2000's came in.
theres without doubt interesting stuff down there, nobody knows how deep it is but the cars will be piled on top of each other.when they pumped it out the water was 3 1/2 meters down and the cars were just starting to appear, and mind,my pal says there is tranny sitting upright so still pretty deep!

A guy who worked for tarmac was a good mate of my dads and he reversed the loading shovel into his car, not flattened but enough to write it off. he was on report at the time so he dug it into the side of the brick hardcore! its probably still there, that was about 4 years ago.
also i read somewhere someone crashed a car and the circumstances were "iffy" so they buried it, only for the car alarm to be heard going off after they had buried it a good way
not sure if that ones true, i cant remember where i read it.
Theres also thousands of cars buried all over ireland, they dont seem to sell or scrap them, when my grandad was finished with a car for whatever reason it was pushed into the bog
everything went in there, fridges, cars, even the occasional body i was told.

lord brocket is an expert
i knew him in ford open prison, he used to be the bin man![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
Lord Brocket claimed that four valuable vehicles had been stolen from Brocket Hall during a burglary on converted stable block used as a showroom.
The cars, said to be worth millions, were a 1952 Ferrari 340 America, a 1955 Ferrari Europe, a Ferrari 195 Sport and a 1960 Maserati Tipo Bird Cage. At the time Lord Brocket claimed the thieves had carried out a "professional job" by removing the alarm system.
INFACT HE CUT THEM INTO PIECES AND BURRIED THEM

A mate of mine bought a calibra turbo for the engine and box that had been buried in a quarry when it had done 12000 miles so i doubt no more than a year old!!!obviously a naughty one but it still had the keys in the ignition and ran mint in his car,it was supplied to him via someone who had a very famous nova in the early-mid 90`s which was also fitted with a turbo lump in it,cant say anymore cos the guys probably on this forum!!!!

i'm suprised at how good condition some of those cars appear, the mk1 fiesta at the start of the video looks better than mine ever did!

Not exaxtly OT but similar. I remember reading an article in a classic car mag where a group in the 50's (cant remember who) buried a load of stuff as a sort of time capsule type idea, including a brand new car, a Plymouth perhaps. Anyway, when they buried it they didnt completely seal the container properly so when they dug it up a few years ago expecting to find a time warp car they found that air and moisture had gotten in and slowly destroyed it over a period of 50 odd years!! They said that 'restoration wasnt even an option'. Nice.
