RIP Phoebe
My cat was killed today by a dog that had escaped from its garden.
Poor little kitty was asleep on my bed until about 4:30 this morning and then cried at my Ma to let her out, so she did, 5:30 we get woken up by my hysterical nest door neighbour who was so upset we initially thought she may have knocked her down.
She was layed down at the garage door, gone.
She hadn't been too badly injured, it looked like she had been grabbed round the middle by something (no visible woulds, just wet ruffled fur) and had scuffed claws and fur all in her mouth and claws.
It was probably shock or a heart attack, or being shook.
Fur was white so thought maybe a fox had hold of her, there are a few round our area.
As my Da was wrapping her up in a towel a white and grey male husky came trotting up the road and went straight towards where we found her, it didn't take long to put 2 and 2 together especially when we saw blood round the dogs muzzle and eye.
We took him into the garden, gave him some water and tried to get hold of the proper authorities but noone could do anything till 9am. (council, RSPCA, police)
About 7am someone from the council called us as someone in our area (about a mile and a half away) had reported a husky missing.
Dad called him, he described the dog perfectly (including his collar with no ID tag) so we told him where to come get him.
The dog owner was absolutely beside himself when we told him what had happened.
He works at a RAF base and had got in off nights, let his 2 huskies out, gone back out 5 mins later to find one gone with no sign of escape.
I dont blame the dog at all, hes just been acting on instinct.
At the end of the day he's someones pet, he was well behaved with me, he sat, stayed, laid down...But he managed to clear our 6ft fence when his owner arrived (he heard his masters voice and cleared it to come meet him round the front)
We had her about 7 years (got her from a rescue shelter as she'd been abandoned) and she was the most affectionate cat I've ever known.
Poor little bugger
Only bad thing about having pets is having to say goodbye

Dog came up to me when i whistled at it to try and get its attention.
Was headed for my old man who has a broken foot so if it was a bit of a psycho id rather it came after someone who can run

Could tell by the look in its eyes it wasnt dangerous though, just a horrible accident.

Sorry to hear mate, lost one a couple of years ago to a car. Got two new little fellas now and there house cats. Couldn't bear to lose another. I'm on making a screen for the back door for them so they can get some fresh air. They have a very very good life and get the best of everything.
I let them out in the garden but only supervised and they seem as happy as any cat could be
Its also kitten season as the missus keeps reminding me... Maybe a bit early for you yet though

Wouldnt put me off owning a dog, wouldnt put me off getting another cat. Accidents happen and its just unfortunate that kitty came of worse in a bad situation.
She's at peace, back under her favourite tree
My poor mum is heartbroken and hasnt stopped sobbing and shaking all day. She got Phoebe after having a dream about a grey cat and spent months searching for her!
I really feel for ya, I had to have my wee boy Cosworth put to sleep a couple of weeks ago, he was 17years old, its wierd not seeing him every day after having him so long.

Poor Cat
i went last week to the local aninal rescue place and was going to get 2 kittens but my G/F is allergic to cats and her eye swole up
I'd really like to get a dog but with working so much these days and living in an apartment it wouldnt be fair so will have to wait until i get a house.

Sorry to hear
But your attitude towards what's happened is refreshing
As you've said, it's a terrible accident but the dog was just being instinctive. It's nice that you can acknowledge those facts and not wish harm to the dog or its owner. A very respectful quality!

My poor mum is absolutely heart broken. She's cried herself to sleep the last 2 nights.
Thanks for the comments guys, I've never known such a lovely natured cat as her. Everyone that came to see us fell in love with her.
