Private plates
Can someone help please.
My wifes parents have transfered ownership of their private plate to my wife as a suprise for her birthday in a week.
They have been to dvla, transfered the ownership and registered the plate on her car (i supplied them the V5 for the current car). The new registration document is there with the certificate, her new tax disc is there and I believe her new V5 has just landed this morning.
The trouble is, they are keeping all this from her until her birthday as a suprise. My question is, can she still drive the car in the meantime on the original plates or is the car now not road legal, ie wrong plates, tax disc and more importantly insurance???
Any help appreciated

As soon as you get all the documents you have to swap it all over to the new plates nas it will be changed on the main DVLA computer ect ect and will make your insurance ect void......
Basically she is NOW running round with false number plates on her car

I've just done a cherished transfer yesterday onto my Volvo from a plate I had on retention. I was told I could put the plates on at any point yesterday. They also advised I needed to let my insurance comapny know immediately. Therefor I would say no. Imagine how pissed off she would be if he got pulled over and dint know the car rego had been changed, also the old tax disk is now invalid.
TBH I would show her her present a few days early rather thn risk it.
