I can remember driving before max speed limits, raced to London every weekend my split times around the North circular would get me 35 years in jail these days & im sure my Tadley/Basingstoke record from 1967 still stands
. Its sad days for the modified car scene these days.
Im too old to be a boy racer but an 'oap racer' probably covers it.
I dont get involved in racing these days, need my Licence but anyway 3 seconds on the throttle & im a distant memory to the average 'boy racer' in his chav mobile.

I love how Birmingham Street Racing even got a mention here...
Still the best/worst example you're ever likely to see... I remember going on a cruise to Telford once and coming back to the S'S because it was shit compared to the racing...
Is there anyone who's ever been who hasn't had a ticket at some point lol
Remember guys - its not big and its not clever!!!!
And.......... it aint street racing its just being a cock....

I used to go to the Esses every Saturday... Got chased by the police once, but managed to run away and hide. Was a mental place, great fun in the day, what really ruined it were tossers in stolen cars behaving like morons. Merryhill always used to be quite good fun as well, but as you grow a bit older and wiser you realize it's not very clever really....
I was very lucky really as I avoided the law and any accidents...

Never had any accidents but I might have the video from the plod car - you only get that if you ask your solicitor nicely!
I did however see it 'go off' many times - a bit like the scene from F+F1 outside the Sandwhich Bar.
Apparently people in Merry Hill think the Tuna Is shit too.

I loved the cage and was funny as fuck when the police lowered the barriers and locked us all in

Not really TBH, take a look at this video (starring many people who use this forum
) back from 2002.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9gXRmv-hJ4
The 90s was largely about the "MAX POWER" magazine culture which TBH was as bad or worse to anything we see today IMHO

plus he's attempted to pedal a variety of motors across various bits of runway in the past few years
on the flip side, he's apparently minted so can afford to, which brings up the cost of track days etc
i myself would love to go on more, but i'd have to firstly stump up the cost of some new wheels and then some rubber, plus a place to put it all when i was giving it death around the track so this is a sizeable cost for me to start with
obviously those peeps who drive sensible cars have lots of sensible spares to get on the cheap so there's that factor to incorporate into the equation as well
yes, in the ideal world we would all do track days, but you can't tell me that loads of us wouldn't see a little blat down a dual carriageway as a bit of fun every now and then if we came across another car giving it beans and it was nice and empty?

Ive no intention of this being about that individual incident, more a discusion of how these incidents as a whole affect those who enjoy car meets etc.

Where have I stated this thread was about that incident? Ive said more than once that my perception of the topic is to discuss the dangers of street racing, or indeed the actions of some at car meets that could be considered dangerous.

I could walk out and bus hit me, but that wont stop the bus driver from doing his rounds again!...
I drive what I drive and take risks like jumping out of planes and fucking about as one day I may die, and frankly I ain't scared..
So I love what I do and why I do it. I wouldn't put someone else in danger.
My best friend died in a car crash nearly 3 years ago. that be due to someone else's error of driving ''she was a passenger'' every day i think about her and what we lost, and why he did what he did. But frankly most people who STREET race have more control over there car than some petty teenager showing off in-front of there mates on a country side road. Taking over on a blind bend and ending up in danger.
Some street racing is controlled and in a place where they can only hurt them-self. 1-10 have a crash over the 3year paired and normally walk away from.
Over 1,000 people die each day on the English roads. Work that one out.

so 3,000 people lose their lives as a reslut of being on the road in a year, there are 365 days in your normal year, so that's just over 8 people a day
so you are exaggerating the issue by plenty

So in reality the amount of people actually killed through street racing is very insignificant to the amount of people who die on the roads. As mentioned street racers generally have more control as you are 'on edge' whilst racing and if something starts to go wrong you are ready for it and more aware of what is happening ahead of you.

but in a less forgiving environment with inadequate road safety features to deal with a high speed accident on a relatively uneven grip surface with a good chance of encountering changes in grip and debris etc. oh plus little run off if you go past the edge.
and thats compared to motorways/70mph dual carriageways as lets face it most street racers dont race on those kind of roads.
lets not forget that most street racers have more confidence in thier driving than the reality of thier actual driving skills.
and if you chose to compare the environment to a race track youd be even more worlds apart comparing it to a relatively highly unsafe public road......

sorry if im bein a 'tard, but am i right in thinking that the street racing you are talking about is actually on roads that are open to the public?
Just from personnel experience, most of the self confessed 'local driving legends' that prick around in their cars racing each other have all been involved in smashes endangering themselves and others, and unfortunately recently there was an incident involving 3 young lads in their mates new M3 where it left a country road at high speed leaving one friend paralysed, and the other wheelchair bound, the driver escaped physically unharmed, but i imagine mentally fuc'ed forever.
Driving cars fast has got to be in a suitable enviroment, which is never going to be a public road, however schumacher like you think you are.
