CVH blocks
I'm stripping down my old Sierra 1.6 engine as I need spares for my daily driver. The Sierra 1.6 had EDIS and a CPS, so is the block the same as the FRST? I know nothing inside will be the same (would be interesting to see how long it takes to melt tho )

id say they were similar, will be fine with reasonable boost, turbo technics did loads of turbo conversions on standard engines or sub standard ones with skimmed pistons! and they offered warranty.

not sure an erst turbo will work as it will sit on back to front? frst one would, but will the manifold clear the mounts? custom manifold would work.

The Sierra did come in 1.6 CVH, cos I had one. It came out my saff. Was only fitted to the last of the 1992 spec, and usually came in LX or Azura models. Not looking to turbo my cvh as my daily is a 1.8 cvh and I need it to stay reliable, and my show car is a 2.0 16V Sierra/Scorpio engine hybrid saff. I'm just looking to make more space in my garage and need to know what to market it as. The head will come off, but if I advertise the block as a 1.6 Sierra engine, no one wants them, but if I can sell it as an FRST block, I'll be able to get rid 'simples'

To sell it as a FRST engine block it would need the oil return hole drilled and correct union in the front. If you do that then there is no diff.
However its only worth its weight in scrap really, any CVH block would be just as good unless its on std size with no wear but even then most people would oversize the engine with decent pistons. So its back to... is it worth spending time hiding what it really is to try and get more than scrap money for it.
I have loads and loads of engine blocks from over the years some CVH some others, only a few of them are worth more than 50quid and there not the CVH ones. :P lol.
