Default E46 M3 advice.....

Ok im going to see an E46 M3 tommorrow. Any advice or tips on what to check and look out for as i dont know that much about these at all.

listen for a rattling noise from the engine on start up and when u accelerate. If it sounds like marbles in a can the VANOS could be on its way out

Rear subframes are prone to cracking, so check that out thoroughly. Discs and pads are expensive to replace, along with tires if you buy the proper Continentals. Make sure the running in service was carried out (1200miles), It's not a hugh issue as any problems would have raised their head by now but it could affect resale. SatNav is usually worth an extra grand. If the wheels haven't been reconditioned expect them to be tatty as salt/ water messes them up.

also make sure the electric seats are working properly. and if you are buying an SMG make sure the SMG pump primes properly when you unlock the car

i know where there is a very very nice 53plate e46 m3 forsale with 45k on the clock with satnav wheels have all been done by pristine new discs & pads in grey full bmw history very good condition 16k if your intrested pm me
