Gsxr 600 srad?
Has any one her owned or still own a 96-2000 GSXR?
Thinking of getting one this weekend.
Any advice would be great

I've had plenty of SRAD 750's and currently have a k2 750 for sale. Friend of mine has a SRAD6.
What bikes are you used to riding?
I love Suzuki's, build quality isn't the best, but I just love the way they ride.
As for things to look for, crash damage is the big one, the people who tend to buy these tend to ride them hard, the other issue with these are the cam chain tensioners letting go, so make sure the engine is very quiet and smooth and starts easily and idles well.
How much are you looking to spend?

Will only have up to 1500 max to spend.
I was looking at CBR 600's but got a decent quote for a GSXR and its the bike i want but never rode one.
How much is a new tensioner? can it be done from out side the engine like other bikes or is it a strip down job?

they will be much better than a cbr6, honda's are good at most things, but not really great at anything, the srad will be so much more involving.

tensioners are around £85 look on this site for a free manual click on the one you want. http://www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp hope this helps all the best harry

Went down the Ace Cafe last night on a 1997 SRAD 600 good fun takes £15 fuel and did 186 miles to a tank and wasnt hanging about. Great bikes for not a lot on doller. 1600-1800 should get you a minter with under 20 k on it . Dont buy a cheepy ive just done OE throttle cables and tube 100 notes , front caliper seals 80 notes and front disc and pads d at 124 each and 23 for the pads owe yes they go well for a fat arse bike.

there ok but i only like the gsxr once its injected, for cheaper money i would be having a cbr600 or a zx6r etc
sold my very clean w reg cbr600 4 days ago for £1400, miss it already, but ive got cash burning a hole in my pocket for another 600, just playing the waiting game now hunting out that bargain, might even buy one i can repaint

Srad is just the older version. It was stopped in 99 and in 2000 it was the Y model. I had a 750 Y. Then K series started in 01 through to 09. This year is L0.
Y model was the first of the fuel injection. MILES better.

CBR600 is much easier to ride my k1 GSXR600 is ok for short blasts but on long run most people need to stretch the legs and back me included too racey to live with. My next bike be another CBR600 for sure it handles better more agile and more comfortable for definate everyday as for reliability and problems i think both same really just nit picking.
