Default ST200 problem, any one diagnose?

Under high speed braking it seem to get very unstable, broke from 100 on saturday and fealt horrid and moved across the lane.

Today on M-way dash board lit up -

TC, ABS & Hand Brake light all came on and TC Buttom became unusable.

Stopped at me mates garage and turned off started again and all lights had gone out.

Booked in for diagnoses Wednesday but wonderd what it could be?

Thanks, Kev.

first check the brake fluid level, otherwise it could be a dodgy ABS sensor (or connection).

if the brake fluid has never been changed it could be as simple as that, or a faulty abs pump or one or more of your calipers are seizing up.

I checked the level when looked under the bonnet and seems fine bud.

Brakes all have been waring down level, rear pads look like they could do with changing but still working well.

Will diagnoses machine tell me which sensor it could be?

Could be the lower control arm bushes causing the instability under braking. Mk2s eat them up..

what about tyre pressures or un-matched tyres.. anything like that could have an impact when hauling down from 100mph +.

what was the road like, smooth or quite rutted ?
are you running standard wheels and tyres ?

sounds like bottom arms to me, as above they eat them! Pretty easy to do though if its them.

tyre pressures are all good and on new tyres

bottom arms changes 18 months ago cant imagine they be gone already?

standard ST200

cant see why arms would make my dash board light up either?

i had a similar experiance with my TC a while back, switched its self off when i was braking from speed, front end felt all over. pulled over, turned the car off, started it, never happened since, or before, very strange.

You can test the abs sensors using the ford diagnostic tester. You can spin one wheel at a time and the tester will slow you if they are working ok. Sounds like bottom arm bushes to me causing the wandering.

ii : cant see why arms would make my dash board light up either?

i: you'd be surprised, if you drive it, shall we say enthusiastically, then they can go again very quickly and the Mk2 is not exactly a lightweight sports car.. LOL

ii: they won't, two events may not be related just happened close together... it's a 10 yr old ford its gonna have 'gremlins'...

When you were braking down did you feel the peddle pulsing as if the ABS was cutting in and did anything happen on the dash or was it all just wandering about on the road and the dash lights happened some time later ?

had it checked on me mates diagnoses machine and seesm to be all well

he did a full diagnostic check

and braking fine again now, he thinks it may have had some durt on a sensor and made the abs act up a bit but all is wel now.
