Luke spent an hour on it earlier as we had to revert back to engine dyno map due to getting lost in the mapping because of low voltage issues and it did 597 hp at 6.2k at 2 bar so with 1.5k of peak power to come its the best iv seem yet but we are just going to smooth the power out through the midrange as much as poss and kick some ass at the weekend...

It's owned by Russ - He's registered on here as 'sideways1'. Prep N Play is his second business. It's an awesome car with a mental spec - plus a refreshingly real-world quoted power figure.

A look in the engine bay will tell you how he's spent so much, there's a four figure sum in the connectors alone.

i was going to say, any1 whos seen the electrics on it will know theres been a huge amount of money spent on it.
its a stunningly built car.
the only thing is its a shame its intercooler outlets reduce down to 50mm on the connection to the core, would probably gain 50bhp with better full bore outlets. lol

Its a lovely well built motor for sure thers no doubting that but because of the refreshingly low powered figure it puts out not as quick as youd expect and imo all that money spent in the wrong place...

Was jammed up behind the car a couple times at Donington at the last RSOC Nat Day.... he headed off into the grass on one lap, and the gravel trap the next!

My car got covered in it, but was worth it to be up close to him - not shy in sliding it around. Not overly quick, but fun to watch. I may have some of it on vid, but don't get your hopes up of me posting it - I'm crap with technology!

Did look to go very well and the driver certainly was commited!

See Danny's reply below - bloke called Jay that I'm guessing Danny knows more about!

Yep, he was properly fast. Lovely black "no 11" lines coming off the tyres each time he left Quarry

Hey Danny - Jay was deffo quicker than when I saw the Prep and Play car. Jay was proper hard driving, I was very impressed.

To be fair, the Prep and Play car seemed to be having more fun sliding around everywhere (unless it handles really badly and he was just trying to hang on to it!)

Myself and Jay, not much in it really. If you're quicker than Jay, you're quicker than me

Will he be there this Sat? Hope so

Glad to read your Escort is going to be running decent power

I dont no jay personally but i do know one of hes good friends and my friend joe stevens built the motor for that car, harron jays friend was timing us at brands in november and said i was quicker but i havnt tangled with him yet so cant say for sure..
I hope he is there for coombe but not sure as last month at brands hes fuel rail snapped and the car caught fire!!!
Iv been told hes been working hard to get it all sorted so hopefully he will be there and we can all have a good rip!!

But surely you should be able to 'kick his arse' seeing as you quote a huge amount more power than him?

I can't speak for Russ but I'd wager he's built it that way so it's very reliable and loads of fun. It's a mental track day toy, not a race car. It's driven to shows and events and as far as I know, always gets driven home.

Danny

building a car like that to the quality and standard that it is will easily cost that kind of money ( i know i have built one )

Its all in the detail and quality of parts used , reliability costs much more than outright power

as you have stated yourself your own car keeps breaking down , this is maybee due to the fact you havent spent 100k plus building it ?

Also the power figures maybee not as high as you would expect for that kind of money but again the car is probs built to be reliable rather than pub talk power figures that the car cant cope with

I see many " so called " big bhp cossies that dont look to go that well and if they do they either fall to bits or break down , id rather have 400 bhp that lasts all day the 600 for 2 laps

The prep and play 3 door IMO is one of the best built cars i have seen and will probs be around for years

Lovely prep on it! Cool car! seen it around alot at trackdays.

Always good to watch on track.... however it would get destroyed at any big events though mate.

From the two times I have been on track its just not that fast at all though. Its slower around Bedford than Martins yellow Rover for example. I have some on board video footage. Will try and dig it out.

The driver looks like he has ALOT of fun with it and is not shy at all USING it and ENJOYING though! and THATS what matters.

Me saying "quoted" doesn't mean I don't believe you. If I said 'claimed' or 'reckoned' it would be different.

Personally I'd rather have a car built to his spec that would be ultra reliable, rather than be the fastest on track, but run the risk of something popping!

I think, at the end of the day, you and Russ just come at it from different angles.

Nice car for sure, think its on Sadev box as well which is probably the equivalent costs to what the whole transmission cost on the EP Escort !

Didn't it win best turned out car at Gatebil or something ? not bad at all if so !

Never met Russ but know some people that do and from what I gather he is mentally into is Fords, the old one wasn't shy either until it was written off, shame this one does not appear to go as well as it looks but its got the right bits so I am sure eventually he will get it handling right.

As said different strokes for different folks, but you really dont know much about my car mate!! its had a fortune spent on it and is built to do what it does,we had two years of hard core ragging out of it untill this year with a bit more power things breaking..
Imo you build a car for something pasific,ie fast road and track, top speed,or full on track/race car and mine is for race and to go around track as fast as i possibly can..
Whats the point in having a bufty race car??or spending 20k on a gearbox when its only 450 hp???some people need to establish what they want from the car...
My car owes me over 90k and gets driven like i stole everytime i go out but hey thats what i wanted it for, full on lunacy!!
Id love to have a fully seq box but then id go 4x4 and need 20 k to handle it and still have trouble from time to time so for me 2wd 600 hp and good handling is what i want,if it breaks fix it...

cheers danny
