prep n play 3dr
Come and say hello mate would like to put a face to this name..
cheers danny
Had the pleasure of chatting to Russ at FITP and have to agree with most comments above. Its used and not shy either for the power, easily a 100k+ car build.
Few pics to highlight the superbly arranged/specced engine bay. One of my fav's for sure!!...
Hopefully he is at combe saturday be great to see it flat out once more.

I thought I'd read or heard it was a T04Z? In which case on an Evo it would be making 550-650 bhp mark. I'm sure there are different specs of wheels and housings on T04Zs, but either way at National Day last year it wasn't running more than 500 bhp I reckon, based on me keeping up with it down the straights.
It's amazingly well specced and watching his driving from up close was great fun
Anyone know what happened to it later in the day at National Day 09? After his gravel trap excursion in front of me it was parked up on one of the Magazine stands for the rest of the day? Hope it was ok?
Anyone know if Russ is coming to Castle Combe with it on Sat?

Non swept 90 degree fuel fittings ! That must be costing it atleast 10hp !
The bay looks nice but I can see a few bits that I'm suprised he hasn't done another way, each to their own though I guess, can't deny its a silly spec.
Can't see the need for the wiggins connectors or dry breaks everywhere, turbo feed is sensible but the rest seem a little OTT.

Was jammed up behind the car a couple times at Donington at the last RSOC Nat Day.... he headed off into the grass on one lap, and the gravel trap the next!
My car got covered in it, but was worth it to be up close to him - not shy in sliding it around. Not overly quick, but fun to watch. I may have some of it on vid, but don't get your hopes up of me posting it - I'm crap with technology!
Did look to go very well and the driver certainly was commited!

Daqmn good guess by me! The ass dyno force is strong in me!
Was a good session though wasn't it? Till he did the grass tracking and gravel throwing off track antics
Despite being a handful he was hanging on to it well. If only I could get the old stuff of my camcorder I reckon I could get it on to here for all to see.

A few people seem to get the point of the car and some don't!
I didn't think there was Ł120k in it till I saw it up close. It's built to be used and abused, I love that. And Russell is one of the those guys you want to hate but he's such a genuinely nice guy.
Love the car and his attitude towards using it.

I'll be honest and say I don't 100% know what's good for track cars, essential equipment etc but from an engineers point of view, particularly an electrical engineer that engine bay looks stunning.I can well believe that he could have spent many thousands on the connectors alone as even where I used to work certain plugs/connectors even switches were many hundereds each.where can I see more photos of the car, looks pretty!!!
having seen the car progress thru the build you can easily see where the money has gone into it, if you cant then you probably just arnt aware of the cost of things! with the car having alot of one off parts made there is alot of time needed in setting it all up geometery wise before the power gets increased.
now it has a gripper diff fitted aswell as redesigned rear suspension since the 09 rs national day there should be some huge improvements in the cars handling.

Is this the 4th break down?
Danny it appears Russel has spent the money very wisely, by building a car that is quality and reliable before ploughing a pub talk engine in and having self acclaimed break downs.?
Maybe from your breakages and unreliability, you are surely being helped to understand where the money has gone?
Didnt Dannys Escort have an epic failure in front of a fully packed BRDC grandstand on Sunday with a wheel falling off?

As for the handling,i saw it spin atleast once myself..either whoever was driving is a shit driver or that car doesnt handle!!!
Id suggest spending more money????
Now stop talking utter shit!!!
cheers danny
For the record you were the comedian Sunday as you had a packed grandstand 600 strong crying with laughter when you had your litle issue...I am suprised you couldnt hear the jollety from you car.....Sadly the other drivers out on your stopped track session wouldnt have found you funny...lol
was just going to say theat steve , the fist session i watched it sounded rougher than the poxy supervan pmsl
never actually saw it looking competitive on track ???
lol luke may have lost a wheel but least he was shifting

your talking shite, danny want driving the car in that session luke was ...
danny was no doubt sat in the pit lane feet up eating an ice cream
saw it during the first session and it seemed to be over fuelling like mad.
i then saw it about 10 mins later on the fastford stand and the driver was burning his fingers whilst doing something on the wastegate, then it seemed fine in the later sessions. stunning car..

failures happen on race cars, look at andrew gallagers steering coupling coming off and that crash, that was mental! as long as the driver is ok and the car gets rebuilt again thats all that matters.
As for the 3 door, yes its a insane spec with ridiculous amounts of money ploughed into it but honestly what does he want to do with it ?
All the dry break connectors, sectioned loom with military spec connectors are found on works built cars because they have huge running costs and must be able to make repairs as fast as possible, as this is a toy it just seems ott as if there their to give it extra brownie points or something. I still believe that the non swept fittings for example are something you would not see on a works built cars fuel system so I don't believe this car has had quite as much thought go into it as people may believe, just masses amount of money which obviously without REALLY looking at it make it appear to be the best thing ever.
Also what was so wrong with the rear suspension in the first place, I thought it ran the Adrenaline setup which as far as I'm aware is as good as it gets ? or are we not talking about the arms.
Don't get me wrong it IS a cool car but I do believe the blingness is blinkering people some what.

Exactly, I dont see anyone having a pop at him about it.

Apart from all the stuff it doesnt need and the seq box what has this car got that mine hasnt???
As far as i can see mines alot quicker and handles a damn site better and as for breakages as i said earlier its only been wear and taer stuff or things iv intrusted in outside people to do for me thats ever let me down...No smoke no oil from my car and only new rings and shells in 3 years of abuse for the engine...also i openly tell everyone on here when something does break or needs replacing as after all its a cossie and i kick its head in everytime i get in it....I hope people arent suggeting thet the prep and play car never goes wrong from time to time because if they are they are talking shit!!!
Also every big name on here has had little and big probs, martin andyg, harvey and just about everyone so why do some love to mock me when i loose a wheel or my clutch goes or my down pipe falls off????makes me laugh!!!!
cheers danny
Not slating anything, I personally love your car and would have it over that prep and play 3 door for the reasons that jonboy gives, yes the 3 door has had fortunes spent on it and its a great car but so much of it has been spent just because the owner thinks its nice to do not because its in anyway useful at all, there is thousands of pounds worth of parts you could remove and make no difference at all to the car, like all the loom connections etc, they are just of no benefit on a trackday car.
Im not slating it at all, its his car and he clearly enjoys it and its a very nice car, but I feel that in terms of getting performance yours has had money spent far more inteligently TBH
Although I do actually TOTALLY disagree on the gearbox, thats one of the best moves he has made!
I was just asking cause you kept calling it a racecar but Ive only seen it at trackdays so I just wondered if there was something else you did with it as well (like AG with the scottish saloon car championship for example) as id have been interested in going along and watching how you got on if you were racing it.

Perhaps the guy used the bits he used cos he just wanted the pick of the bits? I'd rather see an over-engineered car than an under-engineered one...
And I find it interesting that people are saying the car doesn't handle well when, as far as I can see, no one has driven it, or even been in it, to make comment on how it handles. Watching it go round a track is little indication as you don't know how hard the guy is pushing or whether he is just arsing about, getting the tail out for the spectators etc etc.
If the guy is happy with it, let him be and respect the time and effort that's gone into it.
Perhaps we aren't all obsessed with having the absolute fastest car on the block...maybe he wanted the best prepared car he could have and would rather spend money on having neat, easy to work on connectors and things than having 600bhp.

Id love to race it mate but just cant at the mo with putting money into other things but its nice to hear you agree with me!!lol
Id also love a seq box but everyone tells me how un reliable they are with my power???
Yes markk it is and the other year when i fitted all the new studs and nuts i didnt like the idea of the alloy wheel nuts but im now going to get some ss ones made..
cheers danny
hmm the ally ones do need constant maintenance and renewing every few events - i can recommend titanium ones if you can have them made, the two dissimilar metals dont react the same like ally and steel.
not only that but you have to have people tightening the alloy one correctly - something few ever do unless you do it yourself all the time.
there are good sequential boxes out there, like night and day in the gear change world.

Thats all...we both want something different...but its clear to see it doesnt handle as for show boating my car has so much forward motion it wont drift properly ..
