My 3071 turbo is brilliant. Fuck all point of having a great big air compressor bolted to the engine and not using it. We saw 2.9 bar on mapping on mine. Just as myself and Shead like it.

42psi is a huge spike, what power did Mark reckon that would have been?

not sure how long your turbo would have lasted producing that

The bearings are more accepting of a bit of shite going through them (filter on GT30 solves this problem) and the shafts are more capable of withstanding surge/chatter when you back off (dump valve for the GT30 solves this problem)

The most common reason T34's dont last long is when people try and overspin them trying to get 400bhp out of a 380bhp turbo etc.

GT30 are a great turbo, but as a "direct swap" for a T34 which may not have an oil filter or a dump valve on it, its not a good idea.

yes that is so true - trust me i know

especially if you run more than 2 bar boost it will last about 12-18 months

still a cracking turbo and held all the way to the limiter - this was on a modded engine tho.

So its not a myth that chatter kills GT turbos?

A few people have told me that running without a DV on a T34 is fine but on a GT turbo it will desroy it.

The shaft is thinner so will flex more.

Not a problem at low boost, but given that GT turbos are used mainly for high boost applications, I would always fit a DV as a matter of course.

That wouldn't be because you're an animal behind the wheel aswell Ran??

I personally love T34s with any housing, especially the .48, the spool up is awesome and it'll take a nice 32psi too.... for longer than 12 months...
