If you get a 328, you can take the unrestricted 325 manifold and get it matched to the head - opens the induction system right up and gives a tasty power increase to boot. As mentioned, one of the first things people do is swap out the shitty plastic impellered water pump for a metal one. I've been looking at these myself just lately and one key thing to check is the Diff cradle - if it's been abused a lot they literally rip the mounting area. Also worth noting that the side skirts hide lots of sins so be careful !

oh and one other thing.. if you buy a pre '96 328i, make sure you check the engine as the nikosil blocked one isn't worth a toss !

M3 evos are not 321bhp, theyre 321ps (about 316 iirc) altho they never seem to make that power on the rollers

E36 M3 Evo's are 321BHP and not 321PS, as when it was launched it was branded as having over 100BHP per litre! and was always quoted as having that figure in HP. E46 M3 is 343 BHP E46 M3 CSL is 355BHP.

I dont read German press articles because I live in England! all the British press and car mags (as did BMW UK in it's own brochures) stated the cars output as 321 BHP. I had mine on the rollers also my one was putting out 320 BHP with 88k on the clock! admittedly mine had a zorst and induction so without being silly that is a true figure of the cars output.

Jim do the interiors wear well on those or do you need to find something with a bit less mileage. I do like a clean car Loving Tiff's Cab to be fair if thats what they look like with a few miles but cared for then I could be game

I know someone who might be selling his, it's in good nick I think it's Violet in colour with CSL alloys and pushing out 325BHP after a mild tweak. I cant remember the mileage but it aint to high, 80 - 90k i think... anyway here are some pics
...erm how do I upload pics from my PC on here? it's not a URL address.

BMW interiors wear really well, which is not always a good thing as you can end up with a megamile car still looking spanky.a check on mot register/sh should square things up.

That would be me!
The car has turned 78k iirc, just don't use it enough to remember the exact mileage.

Great cars. Thing I find interesting is when you check Pistonheads, there are about 100ish E36 M3's, but near 400 E46 M3's for sale, not sure what to make of that.

interiors do wear really well. my old black one had black leather vaders, the car had done about 180k when i twas crashed, and the seats looks like they'd done 40k! the steering wheel was only just starting to go smooth!

all the leather in them is quality, even the gearknob and steering wheels leather has a brilliant feel to it, when i got myself and MR2 to replace the M3 i realised just how good the BMW interior was, the MR2 had done half the miles and the interior qualirty was 1/4!
