iso generally means equal, e.g. isobars on a weather map are lines of constant pressure

In a workshop its all to do with silly standards relating to work standards like health and safty and ballshit like that. We are in the process of takeing on 40 warburtons bread trucks and they work to an iso standard and some of the ballshit they come up with is just silly like how are pits arnt long enough as u carnt fit a tractor unit and trailer on there at once and how the workshop isent light enough to work in lol or how we dont have all the daf truck tools so how can we work on their trucks its just a reason to employ some knob to make silly rules

Good conclusion fella, load of bullshit really.we used to have an iso team in ford just desperatley trying to keep the stupid flag above the front of the plant!!it went to something called q1 then and without it you couldn't bid for work as you didn't meet their standards.vw have a plant in Europe making pto's which have zero ppm rejects, ppm?parts per million!!!zero rejects,we used to get about 50 rejects per shift!!!

Totally agree,I once kept a machine going by having a man sit round the back and physically push a valve detent in at a certain part of the cycle as we had literally no spares!!we alerted him by a load of cans dangling on a length of electrical wire at the right point in the cycle!!!Just jobs for the boys all this iso q1 shit,as u and I both know when they want something done all that bollox goes out of the window!!!!

The company i work for is a research organisation and just about everything we do is dictated by an ISO or EN standard. About a year ago i was given the awful task of implementing ISO 9001 which is basically just a quality system for manufacturing and it's an absolute nightmare creating paperwork just for the sake of it.
Also i have just as many problems (if not more) with my suppliers that have ISO 9001 accreditation as the suppliers that aren't accredited. All it means is there balls ups are traceable and they have measures in place to try to minimise the fuck ups that they make. In my opinion all manufacturers/suppliers should be producing/supplying with customer care and quality in mind regardless of whether they have a nice little certificate hanging in reception stating that they are. If my suppliers produce shit they don't get anymore orders regardless of how many certificates are weighing down their walls.

Agree with STAFFY OWNER ISO standards mean sod all these days its has little effect on product quality or service its about saying we produce X product in the following steps by Y people in Z place with all the health and safety taken into account. If something screws up they can pin point it back down the line, apart from that it gives them right to be assholes to deal with lmao
