anyone ran this setup ?
won a 6 paddle pressure plate cheap on the bay last night , and it came with a standard motorcraft cover plate .he threw it in as it wasnt needed ..
so just wondering if anyones ran this setup , car will have an hydraulic clutch ,
if not , does anywhere set uprated covers separate ??

I wouldn't bother with the standard pressure plate mate, they just don't seem to have a sufficient amount of clamping pressure needed.
A couple of my mates have had issues with them, one of which is only a stage 3 on T3, nothing spectacular. We put a brand new Motorcraft clutch in on a freshly skimmed flywheel and it slipped constantly, we thought it might be a dodgy one so fitted another one. No difference. We then fitted another skimmed flywheel and this time used an AP Racing 6 paddle centre plate with a new clutch cable and ratchet and pawl. After a few miles to let everything settle in, got some boost on the go, and it slipped it's tits off.
We then fitted a proper AP Racing uprated pressure plate and it has absolutely spot on since!

I don't know what my mates one is like since we've put the stronger pressure plate in but I had a 6 paddle with the strong pressure plate in and I found perfectly controllable and easy to drive. I'm not saying it wasn't sharp on take up but it certainly wasn't difficult to drive, well, not to me it wasn't!
The only problem I found with it was due to the heavy pressure plate, I had trouble physically pushing the pedal down due to the muscles in my left leg being really weak (motorbike accident) and not having enough strength to push the pedal down easily but that's a problem with me, other people were fine with it.

its the cover that makes a good clutch its the force of the springs that hold it to the fly wheel along with a good clutch lineing of corse! i have an ap 6 with a heavy duty cover on mine with 500bhp and around the same torque at the end of the day u are just compromising the strength of the clutch for a good pedal which is a waste. and if u have a hydrolic clutch u will have a good pedal with a heavy duty cover anyway!

Not as heavy as i thought it was going to be, and imo would fine for everyday use!
Wish i'd just done this 3 clutches ago.
