my rs2000 4x4 has been in a mates workshop while having some work done, now after ive insured it and wanna get it on the road the bloody keys have gone walkies, could be anywhere,
so anyway i've a new windscreen booked in for tomorrow so is it able to be hotwired to move it? was thinking of fitting a button anyway, is the key coded to disarm the immobiliser? could i just change the barrels or would i need the ecu to?
please help running out of time

The keys have a chip in them for the PATS alarm/immobiliser. The only proper way of doing it is through a Ford dealer unfortunately. If you had the red key you'd be sorted 'cos you could just get new keys cut and coded and off you go!

You could get a pats and key off another rs2k to try and move it,remove the column shroud and put the new key near the transponder so the pats sensor can read it.although thinking about it you'll need a new key and column to get past the steering lock so it would IMHO be better to get a locksmith out to cut u a key so you can at least move it about and save you messing about with breaking columns, changing full locksets etc.you can just swap the transponder into the new key the locksmith cut you when you get the bits off another car.they can be reprogrammed but I don't know exactly how, maybe someone on here does?
