health and bloody safety.

Problem with health and safety is everyone is so mummycoddled in cotton wool these days from an early age that they never develop a true sense of danger from expereincing stuff, so with no common sense, it becomes a self fulfilling prophesy as people become more retarded the greater the need for rules to tell them not to kill themselves through stupidity.

Just look at the common sense in many of the teens today. It just dont exist. And thats wayyy beyond normal teenage "im invincible" behaviour!!

That may be with most, but it does still exist with us... very rare though

I hate all this health and safety stuff, at the college i go to we are not allowed to sit in the IT room at lunch to work because it's classed as the workshop despite the actual workshop being locked

But as soon as u put something on that aint ur liable for a written warning cos it doesnt comply with company health and safety! wat complete bollocks! I gotta wear gloves at all times including the usual hat and vis. And i certainly aint aloud shorts! I got a written warning for wearing shorts before thinkin i would be safe working away but then the boss turned up!

Some of the sites is used to go to as PM were ridiculous - only one specific type of gloves allowed, for example, and required even when just taking notes/photos! And then there's visors not being allowed as a substitute for safety glasses....

TOTALLY AGREE, in a stupid kinda way, sites are getting more dangerous with all the legislation for the reasons you say! Crazy!

Got to say though, most people that moan about all this legislation are some of the first people that would sue a compnay if they broke a fingernail these days(no one singled out on here), so it's no wonder companies are being so strict!

i nearly got thrown off site months ago for my rigger boots. Aparently your not allowed them anymore, but fuck knows why. they're the safest for my job (wagon driver) no laces to trip on climbing the steps to the cab and in and out of the back of the wagon etc your 10 ish feet in the air so not a good place to trip.
New rules meant they weren't allowed anyhow and he was going to report me until i told him to fuck off and let me work. he took down my registration, name, then got red faced when i told him the company name lol, its my wagon.

cross hired wagons have diplomatic immunity on some things.

Bloke at my work has been off sick for 6 months and is currently trying to sue the company because they made him wear a hard hat with a fold down visor outside while working on an aircraft. He had his visor up, wind caught it and gave the cunt whiplash

Yep, defo because of no ankle protection, as in easy to turn over, tbh those things are fookin dangerous imo wellies offer better ankle protection than those things

I have to wear overalls on site, even though the subbies don't, and I can't even wear shorts under them because of company h&s, what the fook is going on

Health & Safety is generally all common sense, i think a big part of why its gone so daft is because of the "Claim Culture" we now live in, all about passing the blame when things go wrong

Riggers not been banned yet, heard about it though because lack of ankle support and because they flare out on the top (imagine climbing a ladder and it snags underneath a rung)
however the riggers im wearing at the moment DO have ankle support

Was fitting out a unit in a well known department store once and Mr jobs-worth HnS officer came in and stopped me using a 18" metal hop up until I got a permit, the annoying thing was that in the room next to us there was a load of Poll's (No Helmets No Goggles) bashing out a suspended ceiling using lengths of 3x2 and not a word said to them .

STILL "MUSSENTGRUMBLE"

Must admit i'm a fan of riggers being banned, always seem to see young chavvy types wearing them when doing thier apprenticeships, swaggering around site!
