couple of mates have tomtom GO, and are well pleased with them, after having various Garmin and PDA versions. Neat unit, self contained and easy to use.

Would have been about the same from me....very good BTW
As long as piston rods come in tommorrow, you can be done on Saturday. You are pencilled in, so as long as we get the stuff, it should be OK.
You definately want them though?!!!!

I think you should puchase some Meguiars Gold Class chav Detailer for your body, and maybe some bird shit remover for your header tank, but other than that I am afraid to say......I like your car as it is

Dave
I have one - far far far better than the PDA!!!
I went to a meeting where I travelled in a colleagues car with his PDA running the same tomtom software - mine was much smoother than his, had a better refresh rate, was much clearer speech due to have a large dedicated speaker, looked better on a wider screen rather than a taller screen as it showed more 'near to you' information, and ultimately, was much faster to respond ie a good 2-3 seconds before the PDA!!!
Its a simple on/off switch then touchscreen to use, rather than having to boot up a pocket version of Windows and run it as an application etc! For this reason its more resilient ie it doesnt crash like PDAs do and doesnt share any resources with other apps etc, its also much quicker to calculate routes and diversions etc, and with it having an integrated GPS receiver all you need is the tomtom GO itself, on its windscreen mount and thats it! no wires (although you can charge it if you want) and no external GPS devices!
Awesome bit of kit!
To download POIs (Points of Interest) such as speed camera locations etc, go here
www.pocketgps.co.uk
btw Dixons are now doing it for £394 inc free delivery!

did you get it then Dave? impressed?
word of warning (may be too late, but ya never know...) DONT remove the screen protector!!! I know it may look a bit keeping it on, but it massively helps stop finger prints getting on the screen, which in direct sunlight WILL blue the clarity of the screen! You can buy screen protectors from http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=112499
which cut to fit

good stuff!
now all you have got to do is get in a car with a mate who has the PDA version and compare... he'll soon want one as yours says "turn left in 100 yards" and his (should) say "you should have turned left 100 yards ago but I was too slow to respond"

Andy, my PDA version is spot on, not slow to respond, and quick to recalculate the route, (when I go the wrong way, just for fun!)
Ok im sure a dedicated system is better, but I havnt had any problems with mine, and it did well againts a in fixed in car system.
and a million times better than a map!

Dave - make sure you stick the tomtom just under your rear view mirror, that way the mount is hidden by the mirror itself and doesnt get in your way, the tomtom looks as if its floating, its easy to glance across with your eyes with it being at eye level and henc doesnt distract you from the road, and of course when using to go to someone you can drive to blindfoled, the most important thing! everyone in the car and cars behind you gets to see your posh new bit of kit FPMSL!!!!

Andy, most PDAs ive ever seen done have moving parts either
I see your point though mate! Im sure its a bit quicker, but dont forget PDA specs vary wildly in clock speed, RAM, even down to the memory sticks the maps are stored on! So some PDAs may be just as good, whereas others may be laggy.
I use PDA one as i have a pda and its handy for a billion other things too
If its a fixed satnav system you want, then GO is the answer, for the rest of us....

Andy,
I had an old school PDA, that I got fed up with and sold.
Then out of the blue we (the shop I work at) at a HP Sat Nav pack in RRP £299.99.
We tried it out, and to my suprise it worked really well!
In an ideal world the TOM TOM Go is much better, an all in one unit, no cradles and stuff.
I got mine for £260 and am well happy
still want to find more POI sites, do you know of any more?
Gav
