think the getrac was original with a v6 anyway?
should see around the 200bhp mark from that engine with a lot of weight. it's not difficult to understand why people changed the engines on them mostly!

holy crap just noticed the price! eek!
to put that into perspective, you could probably build that car for less money, and it does not have the gartrak originality/desirability![Sad](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
if it had a good spec all round it could command some decent money, but as it stands it's just a mk3 escort with a bodykit and the floor cut out

yeah when its put like that it is just a decent project car , sorta 4x4 version of other mk3s on here that have been converted with big arches, nice car but not really worth 14k

Hi everyone welcome i'm new to the site, and have been trying to locate this Escort for a while now. I built this car in 1984-85, it was built from a 12 month old RS turbo and a 4x4 sierra which was damaged. It's not a Gartrak as one of the guys stated. It was home built at a very silly cost indeed. Gartrak escorts at the time were all built as 2.8 rear wheel drive only. This car was built in south Wales and Shetland where I worked, then taken to Auto Power Services in Daventry to have the supercharger fitted. The car used to be at Ford shows in the eighty's and was featured in Fast Ford magazine 1986. When first built it was just mental a bit like having a Kart on the road. Topspeed of the clock and 0-60 about 6.5 seconds. It was at the time the only 4x4 escort on the road and was given the once over at Ford's Competition Department in Borehamwood the same year. I have owned the car 3 times. It was brought back from Germany where I was working in 1995 and sold to a guy from north east. The arches must have been added much latter. Strange thing was after I sold it the first time then bought it back, it was never the same car again, maybe different diffs or gearbox something changed. I still have lots of photo's if anyone is interested or wants more info. Anybody know were it is now Thanks Terry.

Hi in its day, 6.5sec, tons of torque and instant lag free acceleration from the supercharger made for great progress on the road, embarressed some very expensive steads, lots of grin factor and created plenty of interest among ford enthusiasts everywhere. sadly missed. terry

Sounds very interesting and put some pics up if u can.
0-60 in 6.5 may not seem that fast now but back in 84 that was very fast! Faster than any ford u could but and faster than a lot of exotic cars. My dad had a 2.8 turbo capri when I was a kid in the 80's and there wasn't a lot that could beat it back then.
