welding 2wd diff up???

advice please been at pod today with my mates 2wd saph and just cant get traction cus 1 wheel is spinning all the time so he's thinking about getting it welded up firstly is easy to weld up and how do you do it? and will it brake like a normal diff will once welded... he only uses it at pod no on the road really...

Im rockin a welded diff in my saph at the mo 
good fun but horrible when on full lock or cornering slowly at the petrol station while your car jerks around and tyres screech whilst everyone looks at you lol

Weld the plant & sun gears together & to the casing
Easy.
But dont weld the entire hole up with the planets are as you still gotta be able to take the diff apart, you should be able to get to the circlips that hold the driveshaft bells in.
Only things that'll give up after that are the CWP & snappin drive shaft bells in half or where the pinion bolts onto the prop.
But it is a hell of alot stronger
I went from breakin 28 diff's in a year to about 7 I think so you could say their 4 times as strong lol

cheers jb thats a great help! is it weldable just by taking the end casing off or do you have to take the internals out aswell? looks like this is my next job... weld all the gears together and what you mean by weld the casing aswell?

On both of mine i just dropped the back plate off sprayed brake cleaner to clean it out then i welded the sun and planet gears and the pin the whole jon lot together and they have both taken abuse especially the 3dr 1.
Weld the plants & suns to the diff casing. Dont weld in the centre cos if you bust anything you wont be able to take the diff apart 
You can weld it in situ if you want but be sure to give it a huge clean after cos splatter from the welder could get on the CWP & damage em the second the drive the car.
Last one I did was in situ & has lasted so far

i put a plate in there as well on mine so that the only things that could possibly break could be the pinion or crownwheel. i removed mine, drained out all the old oil, cleaned it thoroughly with brake cleaner and stuffed it full of rag to catch any spatter.

the car has done 800 miles in just under 2 years and thats with me running the new engine in!!! he just literally takes it for m.o.t each year and drives it to santa pod for the ford shows.....
