garage/dealers warranty is it worth it
Im currently thinking of buying a focus tdci off a garage. Its a Bmw garage infact and a px that they have had in.
Now ive always bought cars private in the past and never from a garage because they always tend to be more expensive.
Anyhow the car in mention comes with a 3 month warranty which can be extended to 1 year for an extra cost. Now i havent gone in to detail with the dealer about it but been wondering if these warrantys are actually any good or do they cover you for jack all.

Chasing Radders
Sometimes garages use a third party for there warrenties which can be alot of hassle if anything goes wrong....
If it is a warrenty from the garage itself then all should be ok

It depends who the warranty is with and how you're instructed if you need to make a claim. If you know what you're doing [and the dealer is able to help], you'd never have a problem making a claim. We haven't in many, many years of providing them via Autoprotect - formerly Warranty Holdings.
If the dealer is doing his job properly and you decline a warranty, you should be asked to sign as such.
This won't affect your statutory rights but again, if they know what they're doing, good luck trying to get them to fix anything if it goes wrong.

Not worth a squirt! We were offered teh warantee but when you read the small print loads of stuff wasn't covered. For example if tthe clutch failed and damaged the gearbox, the clutch itself was covered but the subsequent damage wasn't. Also you were limited to a maximum claim. It was a load of arse!
Goods must be fit for the purpose they were sold so if you suffer a failure you have recourse with the dealer anyway wheter they like it or not. Sold as seen is a term often bandied about as a get out but this is over ruled by "The Sale of Goods Act 1982" (iirc).
