Default Volvo S70

Anybody up on them?

Saloon version of the original V70...particulary with the 2.5 Turbo engine.

Basically looking for something cheap, comfortable and reliable that is capable of towing a *cough* caravan

Been offered one of these very cheap, 1997 model with full test and some tax, 100k miles, fully specced with leather trim etc, just wondering if anybody has experience with them, especially for towing? It's a manual too btw...

Cheers,

John

2.5 turbo is the low pressure engine so about 170 bhp iirc. Tbh for towing the 2.3 T5 225/240bhp is a better option.

Might have to look about then.

What are parts prices like on them etc? Only experience I've had with Volvo's before are the baby ones such as a couple of 440's, a V40 and an S40 but tbh I never had to replace anything on them, they were fairly reliable *touches wood cos I still have the S40 as my work hack*

Must be something wrong with it mate, my trip computer says my average is about 24mpg and I dont drive like a pussy. Saying that Ive just done a tankfull driving like miss daisy to see what I could achieve, I got 432 miles from filling up to warning light on, which comes on at 55 miles left. My V70 is much better on fuel than my 850 was.

As for reliability my last one was an 850T5 which I got on 160K, had it serviced when I got it and had some nylon front bushes fitted, got rid at 200K when the autobox and lambda sensor went after spending no more money on it. My current V70 T5 I got on 84K, stuck it through the last MOT at approx 100K and it only needed a rear number plate. Mine was Ł2100 with full VSH, full black leather, twin aircon, fuel comp etc. A lot of car for the money IMHO.
