Default Ford Connect Info.

looking to buy a ford connect as soon as i find a sensible priced one.

what should i be looking for when i go to look at them so i dont end up with a complete rat? any common faults/issues?

looking at around a 2003/2004 one most have 100k + miles on them which makes me uneasy though.

cheers

yeah mate, I drive them all the time, our company has about 20 of them.. well serviced they seem to go pop at around 180 to 250,000 mile , but ours do get abused, we seem to get through lots of throttle position sensors, but they are piss cheap really and easy to fix. we haven't had any head gasket problems or gearboxes, considering we tow cars about on a bars most days that is good. the main thing with them is to have a full service history, regular oil changes and they will be fine.. try to find one that has had one owner and mainly driving by the same person, they tend to be better treated, as we found if you have numerous drivers using the same van they seem to have more problems.. but that is the same with everything really. generally there nice enough, i've drivin 40,000 mile in 7 month in my work connect an it is always flying up the motorway at 90+mph

150,000 mile mark requires the timing belt and timing chain doing on the TDDi engine. Alternator wiring breaks, easy fix though.

Well if the alternator has failed, then yes, that would cost about that with fitting!

But if you find its the wiring, then thats only about £20 from Fords for a new 1m bit of loom you have to graft in
