Default F1 brake question

What type of brake are they, are they drums or disks always wondered this as the big hubs always confused me, I'm not much of an f1 follower so excuse the newbie question.

Cheers

Formula One cars have disc brakes (like most road-cars) with rotating discs (attached to the wheels) being squeezed between two brake pads by the action of a hydraulic calliper.

they are indeed. Took a while to fullly understand how they make them,
but they are unbelieveably light, nearer the weight of a road car brake PAD than disc.

What you're seeing on TV and mistaking for a drum brake setup is the carbon fibre "cake tin" which surrounds the disk and caliper
