central locking probs on mk1.5 focus
was fine on sunday now nothing works off the key doors dont lock and boot popper is not working
looked at fuses its not them, thinking it may be the control module anyone know where thats mounted or had this problem?
also every now and then when im driving along the speedo drops to 0 and the music goes a little quiet any ideas? ive herd it could be faulty battery before but that car shows no other signs of faulty batt starts fine etc

With regards to the speedo, its the vehicle speed sensor in the gearbox, very common to fail. With regards to the central locking, no idea i'm afraid. The module is in the drivers footwell though, either behind the kickpanel or above that tray thing thats below the steering wheel.

Yes, they can be an utter bitch to replace though as quite often the locating pin snaps off or the sensor breaks in half when trying to remove. If I were you i'd get a garage to do it, let it be there problem!
My old mk1 focus used to do this every now and then, just put up with it!

+1 on Rich170's advise as regards the VSS. The central locking modules can play up too (not very common, usually its the solenoid that goes first) but I would check the fuse. I know you said you have checked it but, this particular fuse is on the rear of the fuse board.
It's a tricky job to remove it as access can be a problem. The glove box cover needs to come out (3 philips screws), and the fuse panel (2 8mm bolts). Then flip it around, the awkward bit as there isn't much play on the wires. Hope you sort it.

yer bone both im gettin power on every fuse i should, think it may be mass earth point in passenger foot well as i run my amp cable through a gromet that comes in above it a little water may have lead to corrosion so i'll be changing where my amp wire runs as i was never happy with it
as ive lost perm circuits and ignition circuits im gonna try the earth problems first as it may be the module on the fuse box

its called the gem module, its controls all sorts of things, from central locking to warning lights and even the one touch drivers window opening. I think mine is playing up cause my car randomly locks when i'm driving. I'm trying to find out how easy it is to change.
