im going to look at a 2000 w reg subaru impreza wrx as an everyday shitter is there common things i should look for ?? things that go wrong with them ?? quaestions i should ask and are things that should be done before i buy it ?? cheers in advance

I had a uk one and that blew up as well. That cost Subaru warrenty 4.5k lol

 

they all blow up, then you rebuild them and pray for another 5k miles! lol

 

here we go again, comments by people who probably havent even owned one.

Cam belt-expensive if you dont get it done and it snaps, not cheap to get it replaced either.
If its been played around with make sure the fueling is spot on, DIY tuning kills scoobs,more so if the DIY tuner knows not what hes doing.
Check for uneven tyre wear.
Make sure the gear change are smooth, especially from 3rd to 2nd
If you can get it checked for fault codes before you buy it,could save you a lot of dosh.
Try and get an unmodified car.

I love the imprezas, theres many people who slate them for no just reason and no they dont all blow up, just the poorly modified ones, or somes fooked with the fueling.

suffer from piston slap. and most of them have had the shit kicked out of em. why buy 1 as a run around? thats what you will prob be doing in few months running around or walking because it prob will fall apart.

great peformance for the money but expensive to run. My brother has a 2005 sti with prodrive upgrade, really good car but as above suffer from big end failures.

Take the mpg figs with a pinch of salt as the one my brother has may as well be towing a tanker, bloody thirsty thing it is.

Well, so far mine has been brilliant. Its not a wrx though, its a uk turbo 2000 but its my only car so its used daily and its been fun and hassel-free. Do quite a bit of town driving but can get 200-240 off £50.

 

Steve if your on about me i have had a few!and everyone i know with an import has either has blew up or had problems! the uk imo are alot better built than the imports and less problems imo they are good every day cars

 

a mates got a w plate one tuned to 260 bhp with print out, cant fault it, it never given him a problem in 3 years and he uses every day, i think there r just a lot of bad ones out there compaired to good
