I know the lads involved. the C2 V6 is owned by Gary Stone, well known on the Citroen scene, he was was on the first to mod a Saxo back in the day when they first came out, he owned SaxoSportsTuning. the Ecort Coworth beleongs to a lad a i know really really well called Greeny. really nice lad, and loves his cars, especially Vauxhalls. he's had a Astra GSI C20LET in, an Astra GTE C20LET, and initailly the Escos Had a YB in it, but he had a few problems with it, so decided to do what he knows best, and went with a C20LET. it was a work in progress. ill dig a few pics of it out in a bit

Gutted for them.
Edit as I've just read that one of the guys was grinding and set fire to some carpet, before he knew it his car had gone up. He must be feeling terrible that he caused the loss of all that, friends car and all his stuff too. bad situation to be in but a lesson to be learnt there!!

Unfortunately not mate, just been talking to greeny with the EsCos, he's lost close to Ł20K, and the lad with the EVO, which greeny was fitting a turbo to, has lost close to Ł30K. to say greeny is distraught is an understatement.

It was meant to go for mapping last saturday. when doing all the final checks last week, he found the inlet manifold was leaking, so postponed the mapping till this coming saturday. if the inlet manifold didnt have a leak, it would have been mapped last saturday, and wouldnt have been there sunday when the fire happened.

When i was talking to him last night mate he said its basically a lost cause. its greeny i feel for, not only is he Ł20K down from what he had in the EsCos, the EVO is his mates, and it was only there as he was doing some work on it, fitting a new turbo and a few other things, so he blames himself for his mate losing the Ł30K he has in the EVO aswel. the poor lad hasnt even been getting any sleep since it happened, wasnt even there when the fire started, and didnt cause it.
aye not having them insured as they were off the road, can be seen as a big mistake, which i can agree with, especially when your talking tens of thousands in the cars/parts. but i wonder how many people actually have there cars insured when there being built and not being used, i bet a lot dont, especially when there in a secure lock up/workshop.
The poor lad had never even driven the EsCos, puts Ł20K in it building it, plus all the time he spent building it, and the whole thing is lost before he even gets to drive it.

shame to see this happening,
i am one of what seems like the few who insure their car when being built/off the road just incase anything happens, and as its my main policy my ncb keeps being built up aswell,
i agree with rossco proper fire extinguishers are a must, Regardless of the size of the garage or workshop
