are all your torrent green for a start?
Also it depend on the number of seeds (i.e people who have the entire file and are only uploading) which at the moment is going to be crap as half of the bit torrent sites (well all the main free no reg ones) are closed down.

let me guess - you running SP1's Firewall?
I had that until I upgraded to SP2.
If your running an aftermarket firewall then you need to open a few ports (see Azurues Help)

Ok. I had this problem too but got it sorted.
(note: The ports I would recommend to open for bittorrent is 6881-6891)
1: Have you got a router?
= If you do, then you need to portforward the ports that bitturrent are using. see this page http://www.portforward.com
2: Do you have windows XP, and are you using the XP firewall?
= Read this page.. http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...ect/ports.mspx Then you just make 1 entry in the firewall for each port you have opened
3: ...Or do yo have another firewall? (like norton og bullguard)
= You will have to open the ports just like in the win XP firewall, although I haven't tried it in norton.
4: Why should you open so many ports?
= Well bittorrent use 1 port pr file you download so you just need to open 1 if you just download 1, but I recommend opening 5 or so. That way you can use your connection fully
That's how I did it. Feel free to msn me if there's any questions.

As said above Nige can depend on seeds and how busy it is. Are you sharing lots of files? That can play a part as if you leech(dont share) your speed can be slow. As said the firewall can block and make out you aren't sharing. I've been using ares recently for some good old p2p. Fast and plenty stuff on it
