Ford sierra engine swap.
Well goodday to you all.
I'm new here on this forum, so i'll start off introducing.
I'm Harry, 30 yrs old and i live in the netherlands, rotterdam.
My love is a 1992 Ford Sierra 2.0 GT (2 ltr Dohc 8v)
been driving it for a while, but i don't really need a car, and i'm getting used tot the power of the original engine (read: it's seriously underpowered).
So naturally i started thinking to swap the engine for a more (for me) suitable engine.
I don't want a gas guzzlin' v6 or v8 (would be nice though )
So i stumbled upon the:
N7A engine from the escort RS2000
N3A engine from the 2.0 16v scorpio or
Y5A/B engine from the 2.3 16v scorpio
I know that the engines are basicly the same as mine except for the fact that these are 16v.
my main question is about the Y5A/B engine.
I read in another post that the stabilisor for the engine is too long, but can't i just take them off and fabricate my own. that wouldnt be so difficult right.
and instead of trimming the sumppan fins off the 2.3 can't i just put the 2.0 8v sumppan on instead.
And how is the 2.3 engine with tuning parts, could i use crankshaft and steel rods from the rs2000 in this engine ( and can i do that with the n3a too)
my whole purpose is to make a fast ford.
probably getting an KdFi engine management
and i'm toying with and rotrex compressor as an idea.
more ideas are:
spax PSX suspension (lowered)
RS500 spoiler (already got one)
RS500 Front bumper ( hope it fits)
cosworth rear axle for the discs
limited slip diff (??%) don't know howmuch but have to be able to drift a bit
Bigger brakes
I'm gonna try and weld my own exhaust with only 2,5" SS parts form jetex and a weber performance catalyst (also 2,5") with a janspeed manifold ( or ashley). got a lot more ideas but i have to wait a while before i can start.
hope you can give some ideas for mounting and tuning the 2,3 if not i may resort to the N7A.
TIA
