Name the first 4x4 turbocharged 4 door saloon???
Had this discussion last night with my mate and we were trying to think of the first production saloon car (4 door) that was turbocharged and had 4x4???
Basically the discussion started form 4x4 saphs and other comparable cars of that era, but moved onto this.
Anyway, in my mind I'm thinking the first car in this category was a Renault 21 turbo Quadra, no idea when they came out but they must be older than a 4x4 saph??? Other contenders were Lancia delta (but wasn't that after a saph) and also Audi quattro, but it was a 3 door.
Anyway, maybe missing an obvious car from our discussion, so please feel free to discuss!

Good question! 21 Quadra was 90? Has to be the first of the Intergrales I would have thought.

1979 Subaru Leone?
edit. the delta was first produced in 1987 as 4x4 and turbo, although not really a saloon

Actually Leone came with a turbo from 1985. They did a HF Turbo 4WD from 86 apparently.

Delta HF Turbos are FWD. HF Intergrales 4WD. Not a saloon anyway though...

It's not a 'production' one then technically, as Jankel do crazy aftermarket conversions.

Not 4 door though. I thought Twellsie had it with the Subaru Leone, but 4x4 and turbo was available only on the pick up (Brat) and Station Wagon!
Are we allowing the Integrale, as that's technically a 5 Door.

No. Turbo released in 81, and 4x4 only available in estate.

The first quadra was actually developed in 88 and was based on the Phase 1 versions, but it wasnt launched until the Phase 2 versions had been out for a year or so in 1990.
Audi 200 Quattros where definitely earlier as the guy I bought my first 21T off had one....I'm sure that was on a C plate.
