Jim G's back! :)
Well, thought i'd pop my head in!
as many as you know I stupidly bought myself an MR2 a while ago stupidly thinking it would be a suitable replacement for my beloved E36 M3 coupe.
...it wasnt
Well finally i got my act together and got rid of the MR2 this weekend and i'm back in M3 ownership
a 1997/8 3.2 Evo Saloon
for the grand price of..
3.3k!!!
bargain!
needs a few bits sorting, needs a proper vallet that Benn304R's going to sort for me, needs the wheels replacing with standard (anyone know what ones they are and what theyre worth?) and needs the chavtastic gearknob and steering wheel putting back to standard.
other than that, just needs to be driven... HARD!
well, its probably slower than the MR2 and will take a bit of time to re-learn how to drive it properly, but boy its just such a BETTER CAR in every respect.
now, ring trip?

Those wheels look like they might be racing dynamics, we're quite good/expensive back in the day! It looks like someone has swaped the interior or a lower spec one? Those aren't the sports seats as there is no under knee support?

miles are high but nothing i'm fussed about, 140k
the yellow one was on 180k
this one's already got suspension, arbs, bushes done.
brakes are std discs n yellowstuff pads, if they are no good ill just put Performance Friction ones on again.
Exhaust and Airbox i'm not fussed about as i like the fact it's quiet+stealth
I'll probably chip it in a few months but not that fussed at the moment.
so overall its not much different to the yellow one!
nowhere near as "cool" as the yellow one, but I'm getting a bit older and more sensible now, so 4 doors, cloth seats and standard looking exteriors are my new thing... lol

Rob, thats correct. the interior has been swapped with Cloth.
the bloke wanted cloth for some reason, didnt want kids ruining it or sometihng he said but im guessing it was probably just the original lether being tatty.
the seats are in VGC and i actually quite like the feel of the cloth so i'll keep em that way, just a shame it makes it look poverty :P
on the saloons they had the same style seats just in leather. the vaders (sports seats) were only standard on the coupes (were an option on late saloons)

Sorry, my post sounded really negative! I like the saloons Boston green is a Pukka colour in sunlight, looks good jim and I kind of like the wheels - are they staggered? Aren't the saloons better for track use as the shell is more ridged?( read that somewhere)

Jim,
Sorry i cant come to the ring this year. We had such a godo crack last time as well plus with Chippa et al going this year will be mega fun.
YOu must get the same exhaust as the yellow one. Miltek wasnt it?

Stop beating about the bush lads, it looks fucking shite in 4 door, but that isnt going to matter for doing laps of the ring as he cant see the ugly 4 doors when he is driving anyway.
Its a good car, just not a pretty one like the last one was.

The calibration problem on phil's arse was caused by one of his dobermans doing some damage when it mounted him apparently.

my yellow one's interior (black vaders) was lovely! seat had worn really well didnt look at all tatty!
offered naff all support tho, nightmare on track... lol
i'd like to have some more supportive cloth seats, but guessing there aren't any suitable replacements unless you go aftermarket?
