(still cost a fucking fortune though)

Give them a bell mate - speak to danny if you can and say Mark with the black 328 touring sent you... he's pretty sound.. 0208 303 5211 is their number. can't hurt to ring them!

Re the aircon you're spot on... mine makes a terrible racket when it's switched on. Only found that out when me and the mrs stopped at the services on the way to the cotswolds.
I thought the engine had shat itself or was about to, but it turned out she'd switched the AC on without me realising. One push of a button and suddenly the alarming rattling sound from the engine bay ceased!
BM Wise...Aint they on the borders of Bexleyheath/Welling - Next to what used to be the Polo Bar? Opp Wise Furniture?

I'm in Dartford, so local to you too

Dunno about the polo bar or the furniture place.. but yeah, on the borders betwen Bexleyheath and Welling.

Absolute PITA to get to by train from Plumstead as I have to all the way out to Dartford then back.

I had an M3 with a folders of invoices like that one. I can understand it when the car is newish but can't work out spending 1k doing 'nothing' jobs on a 3k car. It cost me less than your invoice to buy a complete M3 engine.

Surely if you've got the cash to chuck about like that you've have been better off spending more on a better M3 to start with?

Rich, I was a junction ahead of him when it happened, and by the time I found out we were too far on to be worth turning back just to go and listen to it (given that with the lack of tools and bmw spares we had between us it was never going to be possible to actually do anything useful to help out) so Ive not heard it myself.

Yeah he has a golf hire car apparently, not sure if he will be taking that round today or not, if he does I'll try and camera car its demise from lee's clio

With regards to the rest of our journeys over, Lee got a puncture in the ferrari when he hit a pothole in the roadwork section which lost him a few hours while he found a replacement secondhand tyre to limp the rest of the way on (its booked in to RSR for a new one now), but other than that our journeys were all uneventful.

because it seemed fine when he gave it a look over?

Could have paid 1k more and still had same problems and then he wouldn't have the 1k to fix it with

Spending more isn't a guarentee with secondhand cars

I understand that another could've had problems but it might've got him a lower mileage car that had more chance of being better...oh and a better colour too

thanks for the offers of a second hand enigne, but i think thats bit overkill to fix a fucker lifter

if anyone can tell me how on earth i can identify issues with either a "going to fail in 1000 miles" lifter and ANYTHING on the above invoice (other than aircon and pas leak which i knew about) then please let me know as i will go armed with that information when i next go to buy a car

i didnt care if the car was 2k or 10k, i bought it on its merrits.

by the way the handbrake now works MINT, they adjusted it and its fine, no need to replace all the rear brakes now IMHO.

sorry to hear that but no doubt you'll get it repaired asap!
but maybe find a cheaper garage as that invoice is the kinda thing you'd expect on a ferrari or porsche, not an m3!
