Default warranty help please

can anyone offer any advice or know the law on this situation please?..basically my sister bought a 03 micra on bank holiday monday (6 days ago), and it has a few problems..it looks like it is leaking oil from the sump gasket (but have been told they are known to be porous), and the indicator light on the clocks doesnt work (not the bulb as ive checked it).. it says on her receipt that there is no additional warranty other than that given by law, but im unsure on the law..have been in contact with said garage and they said as a 'goodwill gesture' they will go halfys on the repair, but only if it is done by their mechanic..what i would like to know is does she have any grounds to take the car back to them for them to repair at their expense only, or even take it to a different garage (so we know the problem is fixed properly)..cant find anything on the trading standards site, so hoping someone could shed some light on this for me please..any help much appreciated
