more than likely its the flyby wire accelerator pedal ,they are known to give trouble ,i think you have to replace the accelerator pedal

As it cuts out, I would say it has nothing to do with the trottle pedal. It sounds like the symptoms caused by excess air gap on the crank position sensor. I'd try a new sensor but failing that you'll need it code reading.

Im on sorting one at work now its a 2.4, i got codes for the pump 1664 + 1563 (i think) and it tells you on ford etis to check the chain tensioner, when i did the tensioner and all guides need replacing.
Can't see why it would cut out because of the pedal.

If u knock ignition on/ off quick it cures it as a quick fix.glowplug light flashing is same as engine management on petrol car.these vans suffer from leccy/sensor gremlins all the time but should be cheap enough to fix.

i was going to say that as my brothers van has had this problem for about three years and you just learn to live with it ,you just have to be careful at junctions that you have power before you pull out

Ok gentlemen...took out accelerator pedal blew it and cleaned it ,put it back in same problem ticks over ok but rev it for 4 to 5 revs and suddenly cuts out then heator plug light on dash flashes after it cuts out ,....now ive noticed that the self primer pump if thats what it is comes on afterwards if you leave the ignition turned on after it cuts out , i did clean out the filter before this to rule it out it looked pretty clean too ,..so do you think it is a fuel problem

have a look on the transit forum mate ,i always felt it was an electrical problem ,as the bros van always cut out when you were coming top a stop when your foot was very lightly or off the throttle pedal.the fact the glow plug light comes on kind of eliminates fuel starvation other than caused by something electrical.has the problem changed in anyway since you replaced the pedal after cleaning?

Well James without touching anything after it cuts out ,you start it rev it and after about 4 revs of the pedal it cuts out ,does not seem any better after pedal went back in

Thumbs down

We had the same recently in our 03 TDCI engine works van. It turned out that it was the pump(common fault) The symptoms were that the van wil knock like mad (liked if you fill a diesel engine with lazy start) My understanding is that the baearing in the pump fails and sends swarf allroud the fuel system causing problems with all associated componants.Pump, injectors, tank, filter head and filter. Just a heads up to Tranny owners.

P0251 - fuel pressure target cannot be reached.

Either you have restrictions in the fuel flow (blocked filter, tank stack pipe or drawing in a bit of air from a bad seal for example) or your fuel pump is defective. Either way your fuel system is struggling to make the required fuel pressure. Have the other 2 injectors been compared to the new injectors? Unlikely to be a problem but worth doing a leak off comparison to make sure they're all roughly even.
