Default Which fault code reader Ford (need to know which 1 to buy)

can someone suggest which/what type of fault code reader would be suitable for a 2004 Ford Sport KA
The girlfriend engine light has come on her Sport KA

I'm not prepared to be ripped off by Ford to look at at & i'm pretty confident its the Lambda Sensor (pre-cat)

So just want a reader to plug in read the fault let me know what it is, i'll replace the faulty item and then clear the code with the reader

These reader you see on Ebay will they do the job?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/U380-Universal...item19bbba585a

Or would i be better off with something like this
http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_CTOBD.html

Thanks

The U380 does not work on ford Ka's.

I have a U380 and a ford Ka lol. Works on most other cars though.

After looking at your links the 1st 1 is very primative doesn't look like it gives you the code discription (sp) the second may well be no use on a 2004 ka

You need a eobd or obd2 scanner

I don't see why it wouldnt work on a ka, as long as its obd2 compliant (which all cars after 2001 are) then it should be fine?

if its eobd reader it will only read engine problems ( engine on board diagnostics )

it will not read any other code abs airbag etc unless programed to do so.

i have a mac tools et80 which is superb and a snap on ethos which is also superb but a pain to keep changine leads or keys ( but this will do everything and anything )

just a quick note.if u do buy a reader and it turns out to be the upstream o2 sensor and you replace it there is a ford technical bulletin out to say the engine management ecu should be updated aswell at the same time.

its tsb 67/2006 if you wanna go into your local ford dealer and ask for a copy of it

the update i think changes parameters for the heater side of the sensor.we recommend the update is done if the sensor comes up as a fault and normally at our dealer we charge £70 for an update
