Default Should I sell my ST200 for a focus ST170?

Getting abit bored of the ST200 as Ive had it over a year and fancy a change, thinking about getting a 5dr focus st170. Just not sure if its going to be quick enough for me going from the 200.
Would you lot change to that or stick with the mondeo?

Wouldn't dream of going to an ST170 from an ST200 if you're bored of the ST200 performance... I had a run against an ST170 that was 2-up in my ST200 when I was 5-up... and was all over him. I had a mongoose system and a K&N panel filter, his only mod was a backbox. They aren't fast cars at all.

Cheers,
Grant

I thought about the 220 but don't fancy running a 3.0!! Im not bored of the performance of it as its fast enough I just fancy a new car to play with. I quite like the mondeo st tdci but dont know if I can turn to the dark side and get a diesel!

I cant imagine the 220 being that much worse on fuel than the 200 if at all tbh, ive heard good things about remapped ST TDCI's aswell!

My ST200 used to average 29mpg according to the computer... would expect the ST220 to be slightly heavier than that on fuel, maybe 5mpg or so on average?? The ST TDCi would be a much better bet IMO, map it up and it'll be a very punchy car to drive, but still return decent MPG.

However, the Road Tax on the ST220 is the highest band, which would put me right off buying one.

Grant

get a 220 mate, trust me you wont regret it, they are a world apart from the 200, i've
had mine for nearly 4yrs now and loved every minute of it.

as for running a 220, i dont think you'll see any difference, i get 28/29mpg around town
and as much as 35mpg on a run.

the st tdci is not a bad car standard but get it chipped etc and they are incredible, my mates is running around 200bhp and 350ft/lb and makes me smile every time i drive it.

I've got an ST170 and I know its only a luke warm hatch, but it doesn't half hold on in the corners. It really is shocking how much grip it has. So I guess it depends what you want, If its speed I'd go for the ST220, If its something for chucking around i'd suggest the ST170.

Have only ever driven an ST220 once but i thought that the brakes on it were awful, has anybody else found this? The car was totally standard as were the brakes. Apart from that it was a lovely car. How does the tax compare on the ST TDCi to the 220?

yea mate the brakes are realy crap on the 220's, they are exactly the same as on a
standard mondeo lol.

i pay just over 200 for a years tax on my 220 as its a 02 reg, from 04 and up they pay 460 a year, not sure how nuch the st tdci is though.

Stick with the mondy mate. as for 220 performance, there not all that, they weigh more than 200, so you wont be a million miles away from a 220 performance wise, infact with your mods, yours will probs be quicker. if you get a 220 registered after march 06, the tax is Ł400+. and 220's depretiate like a stone, my mate has just bought an 02 plate 220 for Ł2750, its done 100k miles, decent history, clean car, nothing wrong with it, compare that to a 200 in the same condition, with the same miles, and the prices are not a million miles apart.

If you looking to mod it for more power then i would go ST200, the ST170 is took difficult to extract extra ponies from with just bolt on mods, trust me i have them all and im only getting 189, as standard they are not that quick really.
