I have an ST2 with code red level 2. I dont have all the extra bits an pieces just sports cat and ggr cais and on rr it made 266. Other CR cars made more but they had intercoolers down pipes etc. I was very happy with the result as the car is fast enough for me for every day driving. It has smooth acceleration and the power just doesnt kick in at certain times its constant.
Alot of other guys swear by Dreamscience and the new mod x but i have no idea what bhp they are making. Mountune seems to be getting good results and the guys that have it are more than happy.
Been in the new RS handles well no doubt and is fast but its spine shattering and i couldnt walk after a 3 hour journey

............
I dont feel the RS was any worse a ride than any of its immediate rivals when i was in one, and the seats are nothing short of superb!

I was making a comment on my situation not on yours or anyone elses thats all and several others that i have spoken to have agreed with me. The RS is an amazing car that is true the seats are good but for some with back problems its not maybe the most suitable choice. It was grand for short journeys supportive and comfortable but after 2 hours i was struggling

I've a few mates who have driven the RS after they had their STs Code:Red tuned. They ended up sticking with the STs.
That said, i drove my brother E92 M3 again and i think i may go for some RWD. I always said i'd never buy a BMW but i may do it

pardeep, I reckon if you buy the st after a few months you might end up hankering for a bit more and seeing an RS about might make you think again.
Drive em both and see what you think.
Personally an RS is on my list!

This all seems to be talk about power.
Nobody has mentioned the massive handling differences between the two. Wider track, bladed rear rollbars, revoknuckle, LSD and so on.
I'd rather be in a 300bhp RS on a country road than a 330bhp ST all day.

Aye mate.
RS is just a better car alround.
Better resale, more eye catching, more exclusive. On the subject of power IIRC the head and turbo is also different.
If in a postition to buy both, it HAS to be an RS over a modded ST. How much would you have to spend to match an RS?
If the modded ST has the legs in a straight line, spend a couple of quid and wallop it!

As for resale value what do you think they will be worth by the end of 2011 when the new one comes out????at the mo a fully specced one is 29k!!!after the rs 500 there will be no more untill the launch of a new one in 2011,then the current one will be under 20k and neare 15k i expect so cant see much value in that!!!
Get an st spend a few quid on it,will be a proper weapon and will owe you less than 15k and trounce rs s pissing the owners right off!!!LOL
cheers danny

Well.
Sure, if they bring out a new RS it "may" affect the price. But it will still hold value better than an ST, so my point there still stands.
I've driven some 330bhp ST's and they were quick, but not as quick as the 370bhp RS's i have driven. I've yet to see an ST with those power levels. Only bolt on tuning goodies to make that power too. You can't get that out of an ST that i've seen.
And the handling and grip, you say you uprated the suspension. Fair enough. I'm talking about a standard RS being better handling than a standard ST. It's just a fact, it is. In my road tests the RS was quality on road and track. The ST was a laugh but i had to lift in places where i would floor it in the RS.
Sure, spend money on LSD, suspension etc etc etc. Great, you will have a faster ST.
But if you spunk £10k on top of your £15k ST it isn't the greatest way to spend your money, to just edge past a standard RS. What will the ST then sell for?? Maybe a couple of grand more than the other thousands of ST's.
For me, i'd rather have the better car to begin with, enjoy the pose, sell it easier when the time comes and if i need some extra power, it's not expensive to get.
