like i said seen it a few times hahah ,had one personally that had cracked from pissflap right out to the external housing itself !!
obviously when cold wouldnt be too bad ,but as you know metal expands when warm ,causing more leaks![Wall](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/wall.gif)
let me know what it does when its setup ...![](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/roi.gif)

PassionFord Post Whore!!

time to drag up an old thread.
my car doesnt make a lot of boost,
its spiking at 1.4/5 and dropping to 1.1/2bar
this is a fairly new T34.63 with a genuine garrett-34 actuator, 1/2 a hole of preload, but no hose connected to the actuator.
even if i bolt the wastegate shut it still doesnt make any more boost.
so i took the air filter hose off today,
with the engine running i can very easily stop the wheel from spinning, can spin it backwards a turn or 2, then when i let go it takes a while for it to catch up and spin the correct way again.
but if i rev it up to 1500 it spins quickly and i recon i could stop it, i can easily slow it down, but didnt wanna do a load of damage.
im about to take the turbo off, to have a look at the rear housing,
but when i had it off over xmas i had a look and couldnt see any cracks on it.
does it sound like the housings knackered? or wastegate not sealing properly?
or should you be able to stop the wheel at idle?
cheers

right ive taken the downpipe off and cant find any cracks in the exhaust housing, the wastegate is sealed properly, with the actuator connected i cant move the flap at all.
so should i be able to stop the compressor wheel from moving with the car at idle?
and if i shouldnt, then why can i if there doesnt seem to be anything wrong with the exhaust housing?
lol

my old one looked like it was sealing properly so i put a thin layer of paint around the edge of the penny where it would make contact with the housing then held it shut with the actuator and when opened you could see only half the paint had touched on the housing..
went back to turbo technics and they fixed it with an inconnel arm.. maybe worth a look..

you fucking star.
just put some white touch up paint on the penny, and with the actuator connected its only touching about 20% around the housing.
so off it goes to be repaired.
any idea how much?
