Default MOT-ness of stripped interior

Hi

To all the lads that run stripped and caged interiors without the back seats in, how do you go on at MOT time? If the cars registered as a 4 seater will it fail if the rear bench and seatbelts aren't present?

Any help massively appreciated!

I remember years back 1 bloke said if you remove all the rear seats etc then you need a board like in a van to stop the "load" coming forwards. Passed it anyway, since then they've always said. If there not there they can't test it.

Like if you've got a wheel nut missing, stick a wheel trim on and there not allowed to remove it to check.

Reminds me of a motor a mate bought a few years back that had wheel trims on. We used it to go back n forth from essex to Surrey until one day on the A12 it got a little hectic! When we took the trims off and found each wheel only had two out of four nuts on.

Reminds me of a story an MOT station owner told me when I asked about whats required for an MOT. He had a friend who needed to transfer a reg from an old car, but of course it had to have an MOT, and them being honest folk where going to have to get it through a proper MOT. The car was structually sound but very tatty and the electrics had seen better days...

I cant rem what car it was, might have been a mini or something similar, but any ways,

they stripped the interior only leaving the drivers seat and belt
removed the windscreen so that the wipers and wash did not have to be tested
Removed the indicators and declared hand signals only
removed the lights and again declared day time running only
Got the brake lights working though
I think he said they had to re-pipe some of the brake lines but they got it to pass the MOT, transferred the plate then scrapped the car

Can't test it anyway as it's not part of the MOT iirc

just asked at the MOT station, as long as there are no seatbelts the car is classed as not having seats in that location, and so they're not tested

thanx for replies!!!!

dont need to remove the seat belts as once you have removed the seats they become nothing more than a bit webbing and metal so not tested,

if I was testing a stripped out car I would just advise as so there are quite a few loop holes within the mot test

As above, when i took my stripped out mk2 escort for m.o.t., he just advised it as "no rear seats fitted at time of test".
