The fact that people with real cars will beat you up and kick sand in your face.

( I did read above, I just couldn't resist the comment)

A mate of mine had a 96 WRX in silver, lowered, 6 pots, uprated fuel pump, SS exhaust (no cats), K&N and APEXi management. It was a quick motor and handled like a dream, great car to drive. I liked it so much I bought myself one now, mines a UK Turbo though, so it's a lot slower than his but still a great car to drive. I still love my fords but, as a daily driver the Scooby is excellent!

i've got a wrx sti version 5

no problems yet (touches wood)

if its an import, don't put less than optimax in it as they are prone to det

as above watch the maf and lamda sensors

you can mod em easily & quite cheaply, don't expect to get more than 350 bhp without spening some serious cash, you will probably only see 500 ish bhp anyway. ref SS and blowing up, rubbish . mine has a SS system and is/has been fine.

they are quick cars and handle well, if not slightly understeer due to the 4wd (which can be dialed out with a decent alignment set up BTW).

As a guide - mine is approx 300 bhp and it does 0-60 in 4.4 secs (timed at ford fair). i've seen over 160 mph on my road angel (private road of course ).

Also, its for sale if anyone is interested

if you want more info ref scoobies check this link

Had a wrx (import) a good few years ago on an 'L' plate, had it for over a year & used to drive it hard - never had a single problem with it! It was awesome, had alot of fun in it & still got a good price back for it when i sold it. Saying that, it wasnt a patch on my evo

A few of my friends have had them (4 Imprezza's) All have needed at least 1 engine. One of them has destroyed 4 engines in a year

Header tanks can leak. And one of them went through countless steering racks as they kept leeking (not heard of this being a problem though)

If you get one have a few quid held back to cover repairs as they can be costly if/when things go wrong.

The chassis is probably one of the best I've experienced and the handling is awesome. Despite the countless grief one of my friends has had with his he still wouldn't change it for anything else.

www.scoobynet.co.uk is a good place to look. Some peeps on there are blinkered muppets but a lot of the guys know their stuff and are dead friendly and helpfull.
