Ka - zetec conversion questions
Hi,
I currently have a 1.3 ka converted for the track and am wanting more power so am upgrading to a 2.0 blacktop as I want to keep the engine near standard as 150/60bhp is more than enough in a bean can espically when I am used to only about 70bhp in it!
Just a few questions,
Need to source a 220mm flywheel with cps marks. I am after a lightened one however even if i can get hold of a standard one and then just take it to a machinist and have it lightened. My question is what car can I get such a flywheel from? I only know of the 1.8 zetec escort. I'm going to use an ap erst organic clutch matched to an IB5 gearbox.
silvertop 1.8 sump - How comes you have to use this?
Heater - I don't want to run a heater as to de-mist the screen I'll run an inline blower or get a heated front screen so I want to lose the heater take off. I brushed over a water rail conversion? Does anyone have any more info on this?
Inlet manifold - I don't want to run a turbo or throttlebodies for the minute but is there a better inlet manifold out there to run?
Alternator - need to source one but does it matter if it's from something like a 1.8 or 2.0 zetec? I won't be drawing massive amounts from the battery as it is only going to be used for power gauges, lights and the engine.

Use an ERST flywheel
Escort 1.6 zetec sump with a Ka Endura ib5 gearbox and starter - Have to use this sump as the starter wont fit with any other sump and the exhaust downpipe/manifold has to route underneath the block
raceline have a water rail conversion but I dont think its particularly necessary and you could just bypass the heater
1.8 zetec inlet or 1.6 cvh are pretty much the only manifolds ull fit under the bonnet unless you get throttle bodies
If you go for a blacktop engine you can get a front mount alternator conversion (which you need otherwise it wont fit) which is available from Trackdesigns. If you use a silvertop engine you'll save urself a lot of time and money if you just want to keep it standard

Has the ERST flywheel has cps markings on it?
I already have the blacktop engine as I got it brand new for Ł650.
I'm sorting the front mount alternator kit out along with the engine mounts from trackdesigns.

When u speak to joey from Trackdesigns ask him exactly what needs doing to got the mount. Things like cutting the cambelt cover and grinding down the adapter plate bolts. Make sure he gives u exact instructions instead of finding it all out later. Sorry didn't mean erst flywheel meant frst. Can still use the erst clutch.
Shame u didn't mention it earlier coz I'm breaking up a cvh t3 turbo one next week and I have all the mounts etc. In fact I'll have a lot of parts u might need!

Are you using the Focus management or aftermarket? Did you have to do much to get that engine in?
It should be nice with that engine I recon, and the LSD is meant to make a world of difference.

I have a t3 and complete exhaust system plus a radiator but I'm not a gold memebr so can't advertise on this forum. Plus all the mount and adapter parts. If anyone needs any help with finding parts that I might have then u can pm me.
I'm using emerald management which is due to be mapped at the end of the month so haven't really driven it with it's full potential yet but it's still nice and quick if not a little high up the rev range due to the short trumpets but there's not much I can do about that at the moment!

anyone got any info on what exactly needs changing on the wiring looms in the ka swap to a zetec?!
have you used the standard radiator?! every conversion ive seen doesnt mention the cooling.
