Fitted a new phase sensor and the car is still violently holding back and back firing like hell sounds like an automatic shot gun going offs (sounds good) when you put your foot down just after 3k revs it jolts, cuts out and back fires like mad what else could be cusing this. now i know i have a dodgy lamba sensor frayed wires etc. but surely that cant be causing this crap to happen?? crank sensor maybe??? any info would be great thanks. also the spark plugs are choked to hell.![Wall](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/wall.gif)

Check crank sensor condition (wiring where it enters the sensor is common to perish) and check gap is 0.8mm.
Also, if the car has a knock sensor, check that the knock sensor and phase sensor plugs are the right way round!

I'd start by fixing the things you know are wrong first like the lambda wiring, the cps gap only needs to be near enough, will work outisde these limts to an extent.
I would pay particular attention to the cps connector on the loom side.

Car will start and run (badly) with phase/knock the wrong way round.
To dismiss the lambda from the equation you can unplug it. I've never known one to cause the symptoms you describe though.
Normally a violent hesitation/holding back is crank/phase related.
If you crank sensor is the original white wire one then i'd definitely change it just as routine maintenance.
