Is there any way to work out how much an insurance company should pay out for a car?

Default Is there any way to work out how much an insurance company should pay out for a car?

My mate has wrote his car off and the insurance in his opinion have undervalued it and offered him a shit price - I believe he can haggle but just wanted to check if there is anywhere you can go to to check the market value or the value insurance companies will pay out?

Also any info on how the insurance companies work out what they pay you would help...

The best way it to select a bunch of adverts for similar cars. The insurance assessor who handled my case said they look at Autotrader, Pistonheads and The Sun website for car prices.

If his valuation is below any similar cars then he can submit the ads.
