It has a peak current rating of 1 amp (for less than 1 second only) and a
nominal drive of 0.3-0.5 amps.
You cannot use a multimeter to measure the current as the output is pulse width
modulated and will confuse most measuring devices.

i knew you would know ( clever git !!! )
does the std iscv consume all the 0.3-0.5a ?
im considering running a relay from the iscv supply to operate another device ???
cheers

markk, The ISCV consumes current based on its demanded position
set by the frequency and pulse width of the ECU output.
You can only measure current consumption as an average and this tends to
be minute as the valve is rarely fully open.
you CANNOT connect a relay to it and it work unless the output is designed to be on or off depending on ecu software.
Typically, The ISCV output has a 40% duty cycle pulse width at idle and will
drive most relays on continuously irrespective of the idle speed valve position.
(The pulse voltage accross the ISCV is always 12 volts but the width of the pulse changes)
IF the output is used as ALS and depending on the software....
the output may go off and on only.
Best consult Stu about this as he knows exactly how your cars ecu is configured.

ok , i need to elaborat a little i think for you to help simon if thats ok ?
my ecu is indeed configured for isc circuit to be on/off hence the need for driver info !!
it is indeed fitted with als , and this is why i want to use the ground circuit to enable a relay workable ?
