Default Clutch Guys wanted! Bloody Cars!!

Driving on the way to the mrs house, im coming upto a bend, change to third, and accelerate round the corner, notice a little judder, boost comes in and think nothing of it. Come up to the next corner, change to second, boost it round that corner, and the revs hit the roof.. theres me thinking ive gone over a pot hole and its fell out of gear or somet... NOooo Was i wrong.

Fookin clutch has gone! Rac send a flat bed out, scrape the front of my car getting it on, and home we get! Fetch it out this morn to confirm it is the clutch!

I need a performance clutch, preferably a paddle clutch if thats the best out there.... can people point me in the right direction please?

Thanks

K18NEO,

Have you got a heat shield around your turbo?

Check that the clutch cable has'nt got hot/melted where it passes near the turbo.

The damage would be within the cable - so impossible to see.

gearbox if the speedo climbs the speedo sensor onthe erst's re based on the wheels moving, either that or ya driveshaft has poped out

We dont think its the gearbox, because theres a grinding noise out of gear, and when you put it into gear, the revs climb and mph, well they did last night, which means its the clutch or drive shaft?

Its definatly one of these tho isnt it? Clutch, drive shaft, gearbox.

Now Simptoms are ...

1. grinding noise outa gear clutch out
2. dip clutch, no noise
3. put into gear, any gear, release, rpm and mph go up, but i go nowhere

deffo gearbox or drive shaft, cant be the clutch as then the gear box WONT spin as the clutch would slip on the fly wheel

have ya checked the driveshafts, stick in gear get out of car and then look under and see if the cups spinning

the clutch release beaing might be noisy aswell BUT thats nopt the problem

the centre of the pressure plate just span out
It fell to bits

I need help. If i take it somewhere, they could fobb me off.

"Its unusual for the box to go with no prior abnormal noises, if a driveshaft had gone it would still be banging around when you rolled to a stop" A mate suggested that and i have to agree dont you?

No noises occured upon stopping with the clutch down or up, because it just left the engine running.

I cant change gear, because the car dont go... i havnt tryed in on the spot above 1st gear, because the noise is not sounding good, and i dont want to do more damage.

can you select 1st gear and then accelerate, if the revs and the speedo are going up but car is not moving its not the clutch !!!!!!

driveshafts tend to pop out, it would bang about UNLESS the insides of the inner shaft had snapped and then it one BUT the cup would spin in gear but not drive

the speedo cable is in the gearbox, not the wheels ir the engine so if the cars moving the gears speedo goes up, if the cars not miving BUT the engine it reving the speedo wont rise UNLESS the gearbox/driveshaft is fooked

Just jacked it up to view and to put to visable test what you all said, then i realise that theres no grinding noise and i think ok ,lets dip the clutch put it into gear and try and turn the wheel... not started. Dont move. Does with the clutch in.

Started the car and pulled forward and backwards.... NOW FUCKING WHAT!!!!!!

Ok. If you aint got msn, here goes.

Ive just gone outside to jack the car up to see what was going on and have a mess, checked the drive shafts, by moving the wheel while its jacked up.. in and outa gear, IN GEAR, the wheel dont move, OUTA GEAR, it does. STRANGE.

Tryed the other wheel and it did the same. STRANGE. So i started in and there was no grinding. Then, i tryed driving, and it went. HELP!!

start the car stick it in 4th gear and release the clutch ( dont jack the car up though)

tell me if the car is running or not still

doe the mph on the speedo deffo go up when ya rev it !!! if not thent the clutch is slipping ( you will smell it too )

check the longer drive shaft cups and see if there spinning when the cars in gear and not the whole drive shaft too

without seeing the car i cant be sure but i had loads of transmision probs on all my escorts ( my 1300 used to eat driveshafts o kid you not !!!!, turns out to be a fooked gearbox mount causing the engine and box to move and pull the driveshaft out the cup )

ive added ya either way to msn

It wasnt the cv, it wasnt the clutch and it wasnt the gearbox.

It was a C-Clip on the cv joint had come appart, started to wear and eventually not do its job, there for the cv kept on coming out.

I had an accident about 7 1/5 months ago, smaking all the drivers side of the car, but the insurance repair damage to the front on consisted of the stearing rack being changed.

Cost me a cv joint, and a fucking long time!

With the front wheels raised and the engine started, the wheels will turn WITHOUT it in gear anyways

Whats up with bloody gearboxes atm... I can name 6 people which have fooked something to do with the clutch, gearbox or driveshafts in the past few months!!! Had to change gearbox and clutch on a Fiesta RS1800 on Sat and got an Escort cabrio replacing the gearbox, clutch and driveshafts to do tomorrow.... Then onto ripping the box out me Esc Cos again and finally onto a RS Turbo which needs a gearbox and brake lines replaced...
