Cool, just hope you have given it more thought though, and was a spur of the moment thing, as the old saying a dog is for life not just for xmas.

I would love a dog, but just cant fit one into my life as would be unfair

People have the wrong idea of crates (not called cages). My dog is in one whilst i am at work and he loves it, it is not really any difference to a kennel it's just different in appearance and the door can be closed when you want to keep your dog enclosed. My Staffy puts himself away in it in the morning as soon as he sees me putting my work boots on in the morning, also when he hears my other half dishing up dinner at night he again puts himself away, if he didn't like it he wouldn't do it. Every time he does it he is rewarded with a treat so he associates it with a pleasant experience. Using a crate you can completely remove the chewing issue that all pups go through as you don't need to leave them in situations where they have chewing targets ie chair legs, table legs, cupboard doors & skirting boards available to them.

To true buddy, it's more often the owners that get the dog a bad name. The dog (of any breed) should be a pet/companion not a trophy or weapon.

So true! Ive just managed to rehome a lovely Staffy called Poppy - she is about 3 years old and a real treat to be around. Her previous owner lived over the road from me - she was his trophy/weapon - the police even took her off of him once and had her for 6 months - came back tatoo'd, speyed and about half her body weight - broke my heart nearly every day!

She's with a freind of mine now and is coming on heaps, she's like a new dog! I only wish i had the time to help more of them.

Ps - nice one Dan - cute pup

Take my hat off to you mate well done . A friend of mine (the lady who bred my Staffy) is very heavily in to Stafford rescue and re-homing, you would be amazed how much of her time it takes up.

i was looking for a staff pup for a while, i looked at a few of the rehoming centre's they had a few young staffs go in but wouldn't let me have one due to me having a 3 year old, and as much as i know staff's are very good with kids i didn't want to get a older one just in case.

In the end i put a wanted add up in the freeads and i got mine from what i think was a breeder who couldn't sell them, i didnt pay anything for mine but she does seem to have been a bit ill treated

Serious Q time. In aberdeen i only ever see staffi's in chavvy/shite areas of town and neds with tracksuits parade them about the streets like it's "hard". I don't know anyone "normal" with a staffi as a dog. Hence i tend to hate them

Is this a problem in other places?

By what you said above Dave about a "trophy" i think that seems similar.

Shame really.

Lol at a Staffy with a tracksuit on, still it is colder up North.

Mate are you sure that you have a Staffy as your dog is half his ideal bodyweight over weight. Ideally a dog should weigh no more than 18Kg and a bitch should weigh no more than about 15.5 - 16Kg. How tall is your dog at the top of his shoulders (withers) he should be no more than 16". Read up on the breed standard you will see what i mean.

True, still needs guidence aswell.

Let them know when Play time is Play and Teach time is teach.

Yesterday I spent 2hrs with the American Bulldog puppy as she knew when and what to do. Even better if another dog who is tranind is there as they follow.

That bluey is absolutely stunning mate, congrats I bet he's your new bezzy already!

I went and picked up our new pup yesterday evening, he's 7 weeks old and black and brindle in colour. He absolutely loves to play but is getting quite fond of mine and the other halfs lap's :s

We also have a female adult house cat which is still abit sketchy about the new addition to the house but I think theyll be fine in time.

Looks gorgeous, just remember as many will tell you, staffs especially NEED to know thier place in the pack (family), otherwise you'll end up with a dog constantly competing for dominance.
Have 1 myself, EXCELLENT breed if brought up properly, which i'm sure you will.
