Cor this is getting tedious to explain! LOL.

Until having HD fitted, I couldn't have had mine above 55 without the windows shaking, however, the box fault is causing the sound that is sent to the Amp to be, I'd say, 40-50% lower for SD channels, so 70 on the Amp whilst watching an SD channel is about the same as 45-50 on an HD channel.

My £6.00 HDMI lead is very nice quality and I have no doubts that it will outlast the equipment.

Shit excuse for getting ripped off on the lead IMO.

Sorry.

£80 bucks for a cable. fook that, i got 2 1m hdmi cables for the grand total of £2.50 on amazon a year back on a deal they had going. still going strong.

Im not happy with the one sky gave me though it cuts the signal off everytime i slightly move the hd box.

But the hd is amazing just not enough hd channels.

Make sure the 2 aeriel connectors from the Sky dish are fitted correctly. I had a similier problem, redone the cables going into the box and its been fine since

£80 on HDMI cables is just wrong A mate tested an £80 cable against a £10 cable with his massive TV, decent sound system, etc and he said he noticed no difference His Mrs said she noticed a difference with the £80 cable, so he had to keep it

Who's a mug???

It's a thick, chunky cable that doesn't get tied up to buggery, which is a god send when you have a shitload of cabling in one place (TV, Sky, Amp, Speakers, DVD Recorder, XBOX, PS3, Wii, phone, ethernet.....). I'm happy to pay the premium for that and the fact that it's a well made item. I'm fully aware that cabling does't affect the quality of a digital signal.....

Mike - There is no test evidence anywhere which says that an £80 HDMI cable does a better job of a £9.99 one display quality wise.... Sorry but you got ripped off. End of.

it's as simple as that!

Stop trying to make up for the fact you've been mugged...with all this nonsense about "heavy well made " etc etc etc.... So you paid a £77.50 premium just so it wont get tangled up!? WFT?? it's a cable.... any cable will get tangled up!

Don't worry, we've all been there someway or another!

I will bet good money that you most certainly wont be buying another £80 cable!

I would happily buy another. I already had the HDMI cable which was supplied with my PS3, which worked perfectly fine.

If I did NOT know that the cable made no difference to signal quality, I'm hardly likely to say I bought a fairly pricey cable after reading the fact in this thread am I?

And 18 months down the line it's never got tangled up. It curls up on itself as any cable would, but I'll happily post a picture of its amazing girth.

As you say, we've all been there in someway or another, I most certainly have. But in this case, I knew what I was buying and why, and I'm still happy!

My £6.00 HDMI lead sits happily behind my TV, just as it did the day I plugged it in. Oh wait, I reconnected it yesterday and it looked just as spangly and new as it did when I fitted it over a year ago.

LOL.

I spent money on speaker cable, thats a good buy.

Scarts benefit from better quality, but digital interconnects don't.

I actually bought it from CPC last year. It is more expensive than that on their website now, but there was an offer on at the time, it was £79.99...

No, ten metres. That's why I typed a 1 and a 0.

The 2 metre cable I already had was too short.

I would have thought you'd need to pay a further £10 sub for full HD access in another room?

Surely theres a way round it

Like pretend the hd is fucked, get another hd box, get that tuned in or whatever it needs then just use both

Yeah, you would need to pay £10 extra for another HD pack and if you were to buy an additional HD box from Sky it would cost £199.

This year you will also see more stations added to the HD pack plus Video on demand, 3D and Sky Widgets where you can download apps like Facebook, footie results etc. Looks really cool

It's the HD subscription that has to be added manually to the viewing card. Don't think there's any way round it for now mate unless you work for Sky of course, then it's all free

What if i found someone at sky and slipped them some cash, could it be activated? Or could they get me a discounted box?

Leather trousers are the bollocks, if they squeak then so be it

It's bad enough paying £68 now for full package, multiroom and HD. It's a matter of principle

Nah it wouldn't work. If the HD pack was added, the system would automatically charge you the extra £10 per month. It's only the first HD box that is discounted and it's pretty impossible to put a second one through at a reduced price, even for staff. Just settle for the one HD box buddy unless you want to dish out more money.

Just watching Hollyoaks on Channel 4 HD, the difference is MASSIVE. Roll on more HD channels.
