Default Reaching breaking point...

I'm at the end of my temper with fucking cars/cosworths ... Why does nothing just fit? After swapping a T4 for a T4 with a GT30 front housing, everything has been a nightmare, had to buy a spacer block to clear the head, then another oil feed adaptor as the old one is a different thread, an now the fucking oil feed pipe isn't long enough...

Can someone tell my why I am fucking around with Cossies, I am SO close to breaking them both and just getting a 996 Turbo it is untrue

How long has your car been off the road Wil ?
Mine was away for nearly a year and after spending all the cash and time on it , within 6 months of it being back on the road it was split and sold .
I think if you look back on here you will notice a trend, a lot of the long term projects getting finnished then split soon after.....

will mate, ive had nearly 3 years of motoring out of cossies at 400bhp and there fine i think you need to think about your spec more to see where the problems are likely to arise..

heres my bible!!

limit of transmission?? build to it.. not beond it...
all new engine sensors, good condition engine loom..
fully rebuilt cylinder head..
l8 ecu, hydro clutch

happy motoring !!

So you bought a totally different part and expected it to fit with no hassles ??

If you had bought a turbo kit intended for that vehicle, you'd have reason to be pissed. But as it is, obviously there will be issues that need addressed.

996 TURBO!

you will NEVER regret it.

why are you dicking around with a little 2litre 4 pot with a cortina bottom end?

There are no laws regarding engine size.... as you are not in a race series are you!!!

GET a 3.6 Twin Turbo built my PORSCHE. The same bottom end they used in LeMans cars....

BOMB PROOF.

and soooo classy.... they do slow... they do fast... they do comfy... they do classy.

and they are a bargain now.

You can still get your hands dirty and tune em if you want as well.

STOP TORTURING YOURSELF

and TREAT YOURSELF!!!!

why spend time frustrated and stressed AND spunking money into a cash pit.... WHEN you could be enjoy driving your car?

you have done the Cossie thing.

MOVE ON!

I have to say my Cossie has sat since June last year cos I bought an M5..... Jump in and drive. Love it.

Put the Cossie through MOT and the turbo shit itself in 60 miles. Its getting a new one on and if it gives me any shit again in the near future its getting sold and Im going to keep the M5 as a toy and buy a little fwd car to thrash about as my daily.

If something big goes wrong a 996 could become exspensive , but wouldnt say it would be much more than say a 500 bhp escos. 3k gearbox , 1k clutch, turbo recon, full engine 5/10K.
Im going to book mine in for a service within the next two months, so might change my mind after that ..

Just getting to the point now where I am getting nothing but headaches from the cars, and both need ŁŁŁ to get them how I want them. Plus I'm getting fucked off with buying parts that are meant to be a direct fit, and everything is either not all there, needs extra bits to finish the job, crap to start with etc etc... Don't get me wrong, I love cossies to bits, but I just dont think I can justify putting all my time and spare ŁŁ into two cars that will never be finished!

I drove Ian Howells 996 turbo on weds night, makes me realize just how compromised a big power cossie is...

i dont think the advise was pointed at anyone but will,in reality a high quality 500+ bhp cosworth IS 996 money.

thats the point,996 money for a taxi.

no brainer imo.

you dont need 500+bhp to keep on a 996's arse though, 400-450 is enough ands its done with a chip + turbo

why you got a taxi in your sig ?

ok i have owned a cosworth at 400-450 and more.

the porsche is an allrounder, not a straitliner.

i have a taxi in my sig because regardless i will always have a soft spot for cosworths(as said before).

I'm not in any way saying that a 996 is not a very good car but I'm sure there are plenty of cossies out there that would do well against them.

I had a play not long ago with a GT3 and he couldn't get past me and my car sure as hell didn't cost me a quarter of what one of those costs to build.

If a 996 is so 'affordable' compared to building a 500 bhp saph, then why aren't more people doing it?

No, he'll be in a shitty office late at night, trying to finish a certain "project", all just in order to pay for his porker and his central london loft... Till he dies of a heart attack at 32...

While you can enjoy your evening in a puddle of oil with some mates and a can of lager...

I understand both sides here.

Cossies are great fun, albeit a fuckin headache 95% of the time, theres nothing can compare to the feeling of one coming sideways out of a bend on full song on a summers day when your out hooning around and its running sweet.
On the flip side however, you cant beat getting into something newer, nice to drive still with good power, and going somewhere without making sure you have the entire Snap On range and half of Matt Lewis' stock in the boot as well as the AA card.

If I had to make the choice between my M5 and my Cossie........... Id cry
