price all depends upon your requirements.

what are you trying to achieve with the site, what is your target audience, etc, etc

its a bit like asking how long is a piece of string

I personally wouldnt charge less than 250 for a basic site as its just not worth my time.

You could also use templates if you want to keep the costs down but then it is not a bespoke site and someone else could have the same site as you.

So many variables to take into account. So many questions to ask to be able to give you a REAL price.

You could get it done for a couple of hundred quid but lets face it a website should be the shop front for you and not a back alleyway entrance.

It's important you make the right impression and it's also important you grab the visitor and entice them into either making contact with you and giving something back to you or if it's business orientated it's important you maximise your chances of a return on your investment.

Now you may call it business tax but I call it making a sound investment.

If you do want to talk about it send me a PM and I'll give you my number to give me a call, but I'm not a salesman so I'm not going to pester you or ring you about it.

Very much as Rick has said, the amount you pay directly reflects the amount of time your business gets from the website developer / designer.

I can do a website as cheap as £150 setup + £6 per month on a system I have built, however I have also done websites for budgets much higher than that in the past (think my personal record is £14k when working for a previous employer)

If you want me to quote, drop me a pm and I will give you my number to have a chat about what you want.

You say, just for a website? lol!

A website isn't just a website, it can be a website, an e-commerce solution, seo, a backend stock control system and lots more!

This is the problem, people underestimate the work that goes into it and as such think they are being overcharged.

Cozzy matt - What kind of website are you looking for? Is it just a few pages to advertise your business, or are we talking a full e-commerce site?

Here are a few sites I've done and would charge around £300 for....

http://www.danielwindsorlandscapes.co.uk/

http://www.superplumb.co.uk

http://www.interiorguards.co.uk

http://www.amphibian-guards.co.uk

those are all around 5 pages.

- - - - - - - - -

and around £500 - £600....

http://www.cleancomplete.co.uk/

http://www.mkangels.co.uk (maybe not work safe)

..about 20 pages.

- - - - - - - - -

and around £1100

http://www.healthresponse.co.uk/

... at around 50 pages.

These examples are all fairly basic websites - no e-commerce functionality, no blogs, no database driven content. Add that, and the costs will increase!

It was a full online booking system for multiple girls as well as a complete online invoicing solution. And yes it was for an escort business

That was the price quoted, however i do believe it may have risen ( I can predict the comments) as time went on and additional features were required

exactly, on the escort site, we spent over 3 months developing the website, and making constant iterations to the website. As well as countless hours on the phone having discussions with the client which all had tobe paid for.

People dont realise we are not building these sites for the fun of it, but to earn a living. In exactly the same way that if you was to buy some car parts of a bedroom trader on here, you would expect to pay less than you would if you were to purchase from a trader.

The biggest problem with website design, is there is very little in terms of middle ground. I always try and keep a site build costs as low as I physically can, whilst keeping quality as high as possible. Unfortunately most of my work is tied by a NDA which prevents me using them as examples and as such I am always looking for potential clients who will allow me to use them as an example for a lower payment. I am currently building one such site which would have easily cost 10x the amount it is costing my client due to this exact reason.

steve

just a very basic site to advertise my business!

just wanted half a dozen pages,
what i do, my background, galleries of stuff done how to contact me, what i use etc,
it will be for my mobile dent removal and detailing business..

just wants to be eye catching and cool really no fussy stuff, no online ordering etc..

i have done a few simple sites in the past but dont really have the know how to get things looking how i would like them! plus i dont really have the time to be getting stressed with something i am not familiar with..
