Default BMW Z4 or Porsche Boxter...?

Anybody got any views on which would be the better car? My girlfriend has £10k to spend and likes both. Things we're wondering are what would be difference in things like running costs, servicing etc.

Any experience of these cars would be welcomed.

cheers

BMW for me.....if i was female of course

the only boxter to consider would be the 3.2s, the rest are very bland performance wise

I had a Boxster 3.2s around that mark and didnt like it at all, very claustrophobic inside (not sure what the Z4 is like), not really comfy and looked dated inside. Missus struggled with the heavy clutch so if you do go the boxster route might be worth going auto/tip?

Mate has a Z4, I've sat in a Z4-M before as well. For 2 people is fine does what it says on the tin not a fan of the Z4 interior though just think it looks plain but it is decent. What I will say though is it rides almost as rough as my Focus lowered on sports shocks absorbers and springs on 17s and polybushed and the ride in my focus I've never been in anything a lot more firm than some Jap turbo cars on even more firm setups than mine and a friends FRST

BMW salesman here so going to be slightly biast but....

consider a few things about the Z4 which piiiiiisss me off....

Dash is awful. and i mean awful. due to build quality and layout. the ride can be a little hard depending on which wheels it has on it. run flats are utter waank. and wreck the car. try and get one with slightly smaller wheels. this might look slightly cack but it will drive a lot better!

apart from that i thoroughly enjoyed every one i had!

i always found that these wheels were nice as they didn't look small yet the car benefitted from less tram-lining and teeth shaking than the huge wheels

all personal choice tho...

I'd agree with the 3.0 engine choice too if you were to get one. You need a big engine to properly enjoy it. Even though the 2.2 isn't exactly a slouch 3.0 just goes a lot better

Cant say i ever drove a z4 hard as obviously i had way too much respect for customers cars, but i have absolutely kaned the fuck out of a boxter s and was astounded by the way it handled .
I would be very surprised if the z4 was as quick round a track in standard form.

forgot to say , im about 6ft tall and found both cars comfortable but both have interior build quality issues .
i would have thought most women would opt for the porker instead of the bm, just so they can tell all thier friends they own a porsche.
