Bandwidth in this situation is literally the amount of data you have downloaded.
Anything connected to the internet will download data, it just depends on what you are doing that determines how much.
For example if you are actively downloading (mp3s, films) then you will quickly rack up a lot of bandwidth, as you are pulling data as fast as possible continuously.
If you are browsing, then very little will be used (just enough to load some text and graphics every few mins).
Playing online games (ps3) will be a fair amount, but not massive - unless of course you are downloading games/patches/updates etc.
What is your allowance?

It was only November that Sky introduced the monitor so this is why you've just been upgraded. You will be on the Everyday service now which gives you 10 GIG. Maybe your speeds will rise to as it allows upto 10MB and it's only a fiver a month if you have the calls package. See here -www.sky.com/moreaboutusage
The best thing to do is upgrade to the Unlimited service if you have Sky Talk. It's free for 6 months then downgrade to Everyday if you wish to afterwards

Sack sky off and go with virgin.
My mate had the same letter a few weeks ago. He doesnt play online games as he is an old boy, but he was watching iplayer. Dont know if that counts towards your limit...if it does then thats shite.

2 gigs is 2048mb's so if u download an mp3 album at say 300mb's you have 1748mb's left
iplayer will kill bandwidth, i watched top gear in HD it was 1.3 gigs so if u watched that u would have around 700mb's left.
if u download something off ps3 then thats bandwidth, 3 hours will have killed most of your monthly allowance.
Opening this page to read the replies is using bandwidth. 130kb's maybe.
so 1024kb + 1mb - 1024mb's = 1 gig
So if your ps3 downloads 1mb everytime u play the game/load a game then thats where your bandwidth is going, plus it has to be constantly streaming info as to where other players are and wht they are doing thats all bandwidth usage.

If you play MW2 online you will soon clock up 2 GB mate, I'm with BT and they cap our speed over 100 GB and I frequently exceed that
The Top sky package is about a tenner a month I think it's upto 20 MBS and has NO LIMIT whatsoever, I'm going onto that when BT finally upgrade our local exchange as I'm currently on a month to month contract with BT.
Big-Dan.
